my 💌 to my freshman year.

i genuinely cannot believe that i have technically a week left of my freshman year. it has gone by so fast.

coming to uni has probably been the biggest and most life-changing thing for me. starting out, i had an open mind. i didn’t really know what to expect, but all i knew was that i wanted to get out of my comfort zone, try new things, and meet new people—and i’ve done exactly that.

the ways in which i’ve stepped out of my comfort zone—starting my transition, moving out of state, living with another person, and navigating life outside of what i call home—have transformed me in ways i don’t think many people could imagine. i’ve tried so many new things (both good and bad), and that has changed me too.

and to all of the other amazing people i’ve met—i’m so glad to know you and to call you my friends.

overall, college has been a roller coaster full of ups and downs, but i don’t regret anything. i look forward to the years to come, and i truly believe that what’s next will be just as amazing as what’s already happened.

journo fam, i’m going to miss you so much. you still have a week left with me, but after that, it’s all over. it’s so hard to imagine a life without this newsroom i call home. thank you for saving my life. i love you guys.

“What if I go to college and join the newspaper, and there are no Barbie dance parties, potlucks to bring my famous meatballs to, or tampon holes in the ceiling? There’s no Mrs. Mundorf at college. There’s no squished broadcast setup in the corner of Mrs. Wennekamp’s room at college. There’s no carpooling to get business ads and accidentally driving to the other end of town while listening to Taylor Swift against my will at college. As much as it kind of hurts to admit it- I’m going to miss high school.”

Holy cow. How is the first semester already over😭 it genuinely felt like a blink of an eye. I'm so grateful that I have been able to have this opportunity and the experiences that I have had here at UNI have been some of the best I've ever had. I've met so many wonderful amazing people who have impacted my life in so many beautiful ways. UNI is truly a second home and family for me and I'm so ecstatic that I get to pursue my dreams while with these amazing people and having these incredible experiences. One down, lowkey don't know how many more to go but we'll get there💜💛
