Awa has quickly become a core component of the Te Whanganui-a-Tara underground and a name synonymous with prized parties.
A tastemaker selector, designer, radio host (Mouthfull radio) and tekno taniwha hailing from the iwi of Te Ātiawa, Ngāti Kahungunu and Ngāti Maniapoto, raised in the kōpū of Wainuiomata.

NAM CHUCKS
DJ, selector, MC and radio host, Nam Chucks brings deep soundsystem culture to every set - roots, reggae, dub, dubstep, jungle and bass in all its forms, delivered with the kind of care and conscious energy that gets a whole dancefloor moving together. A fixture of Wellington’s bass and soundsystem scene, repping for wāhine on the decks.

In response to the many bullshit and cruel bills passing under the current government, which do not serve our community, our rights or taiao, I am hosting a series of fundraising/enrolment/protest gigs across Pōneke over Sep-Oct.

The kaupapa of this series is to encourage you to ‘MAKE A MOVE’ by enrolling to vote and rallying others to vote. Let’s utilise the spaces live music provides to put into practice our responsibility as a community to support each other. Funds raised will go to DCM (Downtown Community Ministry) and Wellington City Mission, two organisations doing incredible mahi to support our street whānau.

Riggins, the renowned drummer and beatmaker whose credits include Erykah Badu, Common, Madlib and The Roots, meets Liv.e’s raw, shape-shifting vocals and fearless approach to R&B in a live project built on rhythm, improvisation and pure musical instinct.

FAM JAM INCOMING!

It’s been a while e te whānau, and in these cold winter months it’s crucial we come together to warm it up nice - So what better excuse for a little inner city street-beat-get-down, than the birthday of koro Hip Hop!

This time around we’re going loose and heavy, celebrating the rich tapestry that is ‘street’ music, nodding our keen heads to the influence Hip Hop, and its far reaching, DIY community mindset, has had on our ability to approach music, express, create, connect, innovate, refine, invigorate, remix, dance, shake it down, and do it up super niiiiiiiiiice.

All of that to really just say, let’s have a party!
