With an affinity for progressive house, disco, acid house, and trance, her sets are groove driven and will take you on a euphoric journey guaranteed to keep you dancing. When not djing a dance-floor she's blessing the airwaves on her @__mouthfull__ show 'Trip To Earth' AWA He whetū tārake - A bright shining star. Awa has quickly become a core component of the Te Whanganui-a-Tara underground and a name synonymous with prized parties. A tastemaker selector, designer, radio host (Mouthfull radio) and tekno taniwha hailing from the iwi of Te Ātiawa, Ngāti Kahungunu and Ngāti Maniapoto, raised in the kōpū of Wainuiomata. NAM CHUCKS DJ, selector, MC and radio host, Nam Chucks brings deep soundsystem culture to every set - roots, reggae, dub, dubstep, jungle and bass in all its forms, delivered with the kind of care and conscious energy that gets a whole dancefloor moving together. A fixture of Wellington’s bass and soundsystem scene, repping for wāhine on the decks. In response to the many bullshit and cruel bills passing under the current government, which do not serve our community, our rights or taiao, I am hosting a series of fundraising/enrolment/protest gigs across Pōneke over Sep-Oct. The kaupapa of this series is to encourage you to ‘MAKE A MOVE’ by enrolling to vote and rallying others to vote. Let’s utilise the spaces live music provides to put into practice our responsibility as a community to support each other. Funds raised will go to DCM (Downtown Community Ministry) and Wellington City Mission, two organisations doing incredible mahi to support our street whānau. Tickets from Moshtix. What a night e te whānau! Massive outs to all that came through and rocked the party right. Big love to all the DJ’s for sharing your musical selves, selection and variety was on POINT. Love to all the dancers for warming up the spot, G-Major for keeping the energy niiiice, and a big mihi to all the staff at @rogueandvagabond whos manaakitanga was bar none. Thanks also to @parrotdogbeer for keeping the crew quenched! It’s a real pleasure and privilege to throw these parties with you all FAm whānau. Lets do it again soon! Watch this space...

The lyrics I was singing are from a Kadazan language nursery rhyme about nature - simple things in life we tend to forget! Connecting with Te taiao & delving into Te ao Māori has really made a big impact on me during my formative years living here in Tāmaki Makaurau, being more aware of our roots, realising how we all live in this beautiful planet, all figuring things out - let’s keep on filling it with more art, more music, more smiles Another big mihi to @flatmate__ for getting me on board!
