I need your help party people! This fall I am going to Nicaragua for 3.5 months to teach kids English through International Language Programs (ILP). The ability to speak English fluently will be greatly beneficial to these kids, as well as to their families. This experience will also be extremely beneficial to me, as I know my life will be changed through these kids and experiencing another culture and way of living.

As a volunteer, I am paying a program fee to ILP of $4,170 that will cover major expenses like my flight, housing, and meals. I also have a goal to save an additional $2,000 to be able to travel and have more experiences while I’m there. As a result, I am working and fundraising to meet those goals.

If you’re interested in donating, there’s a couple of ways that would help! The easiest way to donate monetary donations would be through my Venmo (@aylabascom). Monetary donations can also be made directly to ILP — 100% of your donation goes directly to my trip, and because ILP is an IRS qualified 501 (c)(3) charitable organization, any funds you donate are tax-deductible for you. If you are interested in this option, you can go to http://ilp.org/donations (or DM me for a donation slip). I’m also gathering supplies that I can use in my English classes. They can be used, so things that you don’t need anymore that are just lying around the house would be great. I included a list of items to give you an idea of what is useful.

If you’re able to contribute in any way, I would really appreciate it. ILP has been around for over 30 years, and I chose this program because they truly care about the children as well as the volunteers. Thank you for your support!

Ideas for teaching supplies (are open to any teaching supplies donations!)
- prizes for the kids (can be anything from stickers, a little toys, or treats!)
- Construction paper
- Elmer’s glue
- craft supplies (pipe cleaners, popsicle, sticks, etc.)
- Old sports equipment (like soccer balls)
- latex balloons

The ILP method teaches the children through immersion and hands-on activities such as crafts, theater, sports, kitchen, etc., so really any used supplies can be helpful for lessons! by @aylabascom
