how would you rank them if you were withered down to three?
of the five i have derived excluding the mind,
be gone sight…

throw a bucket on my head, let me be calcified!
an eye witness still appears…subtle passersby
…the third eye still finds the light even when it hides

and no richer a man am i with cash in my pocket,
my cents still grow duller.
am i strong if I go forth
with only my hands to touch color…

or when my mouth waters at the ideas we were born from & then honed
am I out of touch, or do i now in fact taste tone?

sounds are aplenty, cacophony swells as the room fills
and sights are lights’ sounds…studious seedlings & pupils

but…would…i?
make haste like Van Gogh and cut out my eyes?

if I did, I’d lose the ability to smell as well, what a waste…
but i guess that’s why they say you shouldn’t cut off your nose to spite your face…
alas, that is not the method

when meteors fall sideways

things come in threes, life is selective…
my dog, my dinosaur, my equinox
my late summer croon,
my early fall prune.

the cymatics blew in from a promised land uprooted like fresh cut sod.
You see, once the axis flipped an ice age was ushered in.
But the soul compound had survived yet another nuclear winter, according to reports from a network of dormant informants.
And thus the coalition was reformed & reinvigorated.

Everything in existence shuttered from transplant shock.
But under miles of ice, the frames of reference began to thaw.

One stubborn raised fist fought through the jitters and managed to scribble. Chalk in hand, punching through…prevail it read…the letters barely raised off the page. Like 5 o’clock shadow…stuttering stubble.

Early germination.
Somewhere on the surface of that hideous scalp dubbed a collective conscience blueprints sprouted.
Renovations after revocations.

It seemed the dust settled peacefully after the scuffle.
oxygen returned after our stars had been cast
& the cosmos conspired to crawl out from the past…

if the ink had washed off the Iliad,
could this peace last?
