Morning portion of my ride today was a little wet.
Also, shout out to @waltsbikeshop for installing new brake pads on my front wheel and making my ride a little less scrapy/screechy/annoying! by @b.mcnully

Perfect evening for a ride. It was supposed to be an easy recovery level ride but those Strava sprint segments are just too tempting. by @b.mcnully

Decided to take some video tonight rather than ride.

Cyclocross is every Tuesday evening from now until November 10 at Cosmo Park. Registration starts at 5:30, first ride at 6:00.

Shoutout to @linkpurvis for getting some great video and sharing, as well!

More videos to come!

Participated in my second gravel race event this year. My first race (Mid South) didn’t go as planned — I only made it 21 miles. I didn’t make it to the first checkpoint, I didn’t make it to the first photo opportunity point, and I left the race by ambulance with a broken collarbone, gravel road rash, and a concussion. But that’s behind me now.

Yesterday I raced Big Rub Gravel in Sedalia, and I had an excellent time. This was definitely one of those type 2 fun experiences where you’re asking yourself, “what the hell did I sign up for?” I met some great people, saw regulars from my Tuesday night group ride, and spent a lot of time on my own, just pedaling. The course had about 15 miles on the Katy Trail, 20 miles on county roads, and 35ish miles on gravel — plus one section that cut straight through a field.

I didn’t put in as much training or prep for this one as I did for Mid South, and it showed. By mile 42 or so, both legs were cramping, and any incline meant hopping off to walk (not that I hadn’t walked a few climbs before that too). This isn’t my last race of the year, but I’ll be more prepared for the next one. taken in Sedalia, Missouri by @b.mcnully
