Best time of the year!

Wonderful reading week spent at the lake. I read a lot of great books and a couple of duds, but loved every minute of a week devoted just to reading.

(Plus a weekend of birthday celebrations, and amazing sunsets.)

We’ve been home for a few days now, and I’ve spent the morning looking back on pictures for the last half of the trip.

We spent the time in Volcanoes National Park, went birding in Hakalau Forest and saw some of the worlds rarest birds, visited several coffee farms, and spent the final evening at Kaloko-Honokōhau National Historic Park with tons of sea turtles and a Hawaiian Monk Seal.

We missed the 33rd episode of Kīlauea by 6 hours but I still feel incredibly lucky to be there and even see a bit of lava!

As I begin Sabbatical, I am so grateful for the time spent beside the water and look forward to what’s next.

Part one of Hawaii was amazing. We snorkeled, SNUBAed, hiked, stargazed, drove ATVs, and explored all over the Kona Coast. Up next: Volcanoes National Park.

Baltimore in vertical.

@b.mcnully and I had a great time exploring Baltimore, eating great food, and drinking lots of coffee.

Of course a highlight was celebrating Caleb’s installation as Pastor of Village Baptist in Bowie, MD. (Thanks to B for snagging a picture because I didn’t take any 🙃)

Grateful for the quick getaway for play and celebrating a dear friend.

Colorado Day 4 🚙

Today was a travel/recovery day. Highlights included visiting Boulder Falls, eating mini donuts at The Train Coffee, relaxing by the pool at our hotel in Estes Park, and coming across some elk on our way back from some of the best Thai food I’ve had.

Colorado day 2 🗻

Highlights included visiting an indie book store and taking a scenic drive out to Pine, Co. We spent a few hours by the river and walking around the lake. It was a great, restful day before seeing Taylor Swift tomorrow.
