6.26.26 Today is my birthday. 🎈♋️⭐️

Here’s to another year. Thank you to my wife, our cat Mars, my family, my friends, art and music, new upcoming opportunities, and memories. I ain’t got much else to say other than I watch soccer now, I am super into reading short stories, I love cooking, and am truly grateful for what I have in my life and fuck a.i.

Also releasing new music later this year. It’s done & ready just gotta plan it out better.

We can’t wait for tomorrow’s BMA Violet Hour with abdu mongo ali (@abdu__ali), our inaugural Alice and Franklin Cooley Composer in Residence. 🌟

Ali, joined by Daoure Diongue (@daouredio) and Mark Navarro (@baat.choy), will debut a sonic and visual performance exploring how Maryland’s atmosphere and ecology shape Black life in Baltimore. A talkback moderated by filmmaker Terence Nance (@terenceetc) will follow.

🗓️ Thursday, January 22, 6:30-8 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m.

🎟️ Online registration is now SOLD OUT! Limited walk-up seating may be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

On April 12th, I will be performing songs off my project, ‘SIMULATION & SIMULACRA’ live at The Ottobar. 🌹

This specific performance is very special to me because I’ll be joined and accompanied by artists whose individual work I deeply admire.

I AM SO EXCITED TO HAVE THEM IN MY BAND AND PERFORMING MY MUSIC IN THIS NEW WAY. ✨

Ellery Bryan (they/them) is a nonbinary visual artist who translates analog to ephemeral media. Sound artist, producer, audio engineer, and composer Mark Kent Navarro (he/him) is a Filipino-American artist born and raised in Baltimore City. Daoure Diongue (he/him) is a saxophonist, composer, and multi-instrumentalist evoking his homes of Baltimore and Senegal through sound. Together, they present ASH: 001 (Ambient Sound Healing), a film scored live with improvisation.

The music of ASH: 001 features Navarro’s Koto (a traditional Japanese zither), played to embody his autonomy over the past of Japanese colonialism in the Philippines, and Diongue’s Kamele Ngoni (a traditional West African harp), played to embody his connection to Senegal. Between these two contrasting intentions is an analog film by Bryan, reflecting how both musicians find healing in stringed instruments with long histories.
