fam bam, it was a tough decision, but i am going to have to push back the next pop-up two months. if you were planning to go, still obviously absolutely definitely go to NARRO if you’ve never been (and if you have!)—you’ll undoubtedly find your new favorite forever pieces like myself and my clients so often (by often, i mean every single time) do there.
i’ll have the goods in time for our surf retreats to costa rica over the holidays.
see ya november 15th and i can’t wait!

thresher sharks and sandbar sharks migrate north through virginia beach and rockaway beach waters during the east coast’s spring and summer season. both are commonly found closer to the shoreline and in more shallow bodies of water as they feed on baitfish.

there has been quite the uptick in shark sightings at rockaway this summer. although i imagine it’s mostly because of the rising water temperatures influencing their feeding and migrating patterns bringing them a little bit closer to the shore than normal, i can’t help but notice that the (now) regular use of drone surveillance here seems to coincide with the (now) more frequent sightings. if the drones are tools meant to keep an eye out for sharks, maybe instead of creating panic, we can can just pause to remember that it’ll be okay. The ocean is their house and we are merely guests trying to catch a left.

the bay nettle jellyfish and the cannonball jellyfish can both be found in virginia beach and rockaway beach waters.

it’s hard not to be fascinated by jellyfish, isn’t it? the last few months as i was getting everything ready for the first pop-up, i kept thinking about jellyfish. and although we didn’t specifically discuss jellyfish in terms of branding, elena ended up choosing to use the “jellyfish sun” as the central character to the poster she made. it immediately made sense to me. jellyfish tend to drift with the tides and currents horizontally but have neural pathways that can signal when needed to propel themselves vertically.
i’ve been wanting to do this for so long and in this way feel similar to jellyfish. outside sensory input combined with immediate propulsion to just go for it.

to say saturday exceeded my expectations is a major understatement. i couldn’t have asked or hoped for a better day. i think i’m still in shock but feel like i’m making my way back slowly to earth.
to my friends and family, that came out, i love you all. i am so immensely grateful for your unwavering love and support. to all of the beautiful new humans i met, thank you for spending the time (quality time is my love language after all). welcome, welcome to this extended family we’re building over here! we’re so happy to have you!

it me! in top and shorts and a necklace that will be available tomorrow.

for those of you that don’t know me irl, hi! thank you so much for joining me on this journey. i’ve been a full-time personal stylist for almost 15 years now but have always loved (like, truly—the youngest of five over here and only got new workout clothes growing up) and been most comfortable in secondhand and vintage clothes. i grew up in virginia beach and live in rockaway, so i feel like a beach-going expert and most at peace living by the ocean.
i could talk all day about the factors and variables that ultimately pushed me to do this pop-up but maybe, just, swing by tomorrow at @phase_surf and we can chat then!
love a good chat. and a new friend.
i edited the curation to a little over 200 pieces so if you find something you love, that’s great too!
hope to see you tomorrow and bring a friend! or two! or three!
