It’s a very heavy thing to start a new year knowing that my Opa isn’t in it. We lost this beautiful soul on Sunday night, and if you know me you have probably heard me rave about him.

He was someone who was deeply curious, and fostered in all of us a love of learning and adventure. He could get the pickiest eater to try a bite of something new, and have a meaningful conversation with anyone. He nurtured my own love of art and showed me that one of the most fulfilling things in life is sharing food and wine with the people you love. I will miss his warmth more than I can put into words.

The grief has been so much and I’m so grateful to the people who have been holding me physically/digitally/emotionally during this time, and showing up for our family 💜 by @bababongi

So I moved to New York a few months ago after living in Minneapolis for the better part of 8 years! It has been fun and very hard and very exciting and then hard again and on and on and on. But we are making friends and reconnecting with people and getting library cards and meeting bodega cats and finding new bakeries to love and things to try. 🌹 One last R&J post I swear!! Had to share these gorgeous photos by @emilygarst (aka Juliet experiences the full spectrum of human emotion in 2 hours).

Working on this show affirmed for me how fucking special it is to be surrounded by beautiful artists who lift each other up, and how that gave me the space to trust myself. I am deeply proud of the show we put on, endlessly grateful to my community of people who showed up to support us, and really proud of myself for the work I did (which is something I’m practicing celebrating out loud!!!).

As I make the steps into a new chapter of my life and soon say goodbye to Minneapolis, I couldn’t think of a better way to bookend my time nor with a better group of people. But as some mid tier unknown playwright once said, parting is such sweet sorrow, and I will miss our time playing under all the phases of the moon more than I can put into words ✨🌙 taken in Sociable Cider Werks by @bababongi
