🧚🏾‍♂️COVER REVEAL!!!! 🧞

We are so thrilled that the delicious cover for THE COOKOUT was announced by @locusmagazine . Edited by @babblewocky , @saraquillan , @tonya_r_moore & @pat.the.carroll . Cover Art by @ziziian_ and cover design by Erin Brown.

You can preorder your copy now from @androidpress !

About the Anthology 🍖

“The Cookout” calls to something in our blood that unites us in love and community. Across the African Diaspora, with the fluctuations of ancestral knowledge and cultural roots, in wealth and happiness, in sickness and danger, in celebration and defiance, in every nook and cranny of the world, you’ll find The Cookout. But can it reach the depths of a Level 100 dungeon? Can we put picnic tables in the stars? Gather round the grill in another dimension? Source our seasonings in the furthest realms of our imaginations? Featuring stories by Shingai Njeri Kagunda, Brent Lambert, Eden Royce, DaVaun Sanders, and many more! by @babblewocky

I got to spend a whole evening seeing close-up magic performed by world famous magicians Howard Hamburg and Rafael Benatar at @magiccastlehollywood last weekend and it was SUPER THRILLING!
Card and coin tricks, stuff that looked completely impossible, they were laughing at my face the whole time. 😱🤩🃏 by @babblewocky

And that’s a wrap on @laworldcon , my very first ever! Here’s to next year in Montreal. Have to say, being able to speak to dozens and dozens of people about my two great loves, costume design and weird fiction, has really inspired me to double down on my dreams. I’ve got some things in the pipeline, including a novelette in verse, a novella collection, a nonfic craft book, and a lecture series. Watch this space, and until next time! by @babblewocky

This week flew by, but I can’t believe how much fun I had. Now… time to have an urgent discussion with a basket of onion rings…

Got a nice language lesson from Citlali Arvizu and Tonantzin Carmelo in the “Tongva 101, An Introduction to Tongva” panel this afternoon. They gave us some great history, relevant context, the tea on the land-naming traditions (I’ll never pronounce Cahuenga the same way again!) and some important points to consider when writing on the topics of colonization and indigenous cultural identity.
I am so grateful- especially considering how much I needed this info for my masters thesis project... @laworldcon #tongva by @babblewocky
