Everyone has an opinion about Atlanta—and recently, we got to hear from some of the people who are undoubtedly leaving their mark on the city 🖤.

@sweet_auburn_stories kicked off the @atlantaculturalexchange with “Atlanta — Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow.” We brought together influential voices to reflect on where we’ve been, where we are today, and what’s on the horizon for the “City Too Busy to Hate.”

Moderated by me, the conversation featured former Atlanta Mayor @shirleyfranklinatlanta, cultural critic @deante.kyle of the @gritsandeggspodcast, President & CEO of the @atlantabeltline @clydeinthecommunity, Clyde Higgs, and @repakbarali, Georgia’s youngest state legislator, for a fun, insightful live edition of #SweetAuburnStories that was very Atlanta.

Because who can really say they’re FROM Atlanta? We got into all of it.

Featuring former Mayor Shirley Franklin, Deante Kyle of the Grits and Eggs Podcast, other distinguished voices, and moderated by Royce Bable of Sweet Auburn Stories, the conversation examines Atlanta’s journey from a center of civil rights leadership to a global hub for culture, business, sports, and innovation.

Bringing it back again for year two! Atlanta showed up 🔥

Can’t stop thinking about the parade! From the people to the creativity to the pride, you could feel it on every block of Peachtree. Over 75 parade groups and 2700+ participants showed up, representing local schools, bands, creators, businesses, and community leaders.

Roycebee Creative was proud to lead the production of the 2nd Annual 404 Day Parade, bringing this moment to life once again alongside our partners, participants, and the entire Atlanta community. This Black History Month, our history wasn’t just remembered…it was experienced.

@SweetAuburnStories and @AtlantaLife came together for a powerful interview with Ambassador #AndrewYoung. To celebrate with our Atlanta community, we hosted a reception and screening at the @HammondsHouseMuseum.

Thank you to our honored guests including:

▪️ Mayor of Atlanta, @andreforatlanta
▪️ Phenola Culbreath, the first Black female flight attendant for @delta
▪️ The grandson of the founder of @thebusybeeatl, representing one of Atlanta’s most iconic Black-owned restaurant legacies
▪️ Stacey Key, President of the Georgia Minority Supplier Development Council (GMSDC)
▪️ Henrietta Antoinin, an employee of Atlanta Life for 47 years, and the former SVP of Public Relations

The #SweetAuburnStories goal is simple: create space to listen to the giants among us.

In this latest episode, we had the honor of sitting down with the iconic Andrew Young (tag) —civil rights leader, former U.S. Congressman, U.N. Ambassador, and two-term Atlanta mayor, pastor, and lifelong servant to humanity.

From helping to effect landmark legislation like the Voting Rights Act to elevating Atlanta on the world stage with the ’96 Olympic Games, his legacy is immeasurable.

Because it’s Sweet Auburn Stories, it wasn’t all history. We also talked about his favorite wing spot, how he hopes to be remembered, and even the dating advice he once shared with R&B superstar, #ChrisBrown.

When I started producing @sweet_auburn_stories, I wanted to introduce new audiences to the giants among us. In a time when truth is questioned, facts are being erased, and people are divided, we must continue to tell stories 🫶🏾!

Some spaces know how to hold history.

The @theherndonhomemuseum was built by Black vision.
Protected by Black legacy.
Chosen with intention.
Stories like this deserve to be told where they were funded, lived, and passed forward.
