Japan Called 💱I answered 🪭

N A O S H I M A
An immersive art island

Standing among Yayoi Kusama’s-Narcissism for Sale - mirrored spheres felt especially powerful.

In 1966, uninvited to the Venice Biennale, she covered the lawn with 1,500 mirrored silver spheres and sold them for $2 each under the sign: “Your Narcissism for Sale.”

Twenty Seven Years later, she returned officially—making history as the first woman and first solo artist to represent Japan in her own pavilion.

The Benesse House, and its galleries, where Tadao Ando transforms the entire island into an art, architecture and nature reserve

#YayoiKusama #Naoshima #NarcissusGarden #ContemporaryArt

The Lee Ufan Museum and Chichu Art Museum, both shaped by Tadao Ando’s extraordinary architecture, made art, concrete, light and landscape feel completely inseparable. Seeing Monet, James Turrell and Walter De Maria in spaces created specifically around the experience of the work was unforgettable. The entire island feels like an artist’s dream by @babs_constantin
