This is what women in sport actually looks like, because apparently we still need the reminder 🙃

The @sydney_sweeney sports betting ad pissed me off enough the first time around.

But then to double down on the criticism by sharing photos of female athletes from espn’s body issue as some kind of gotcha moment, girl you just don’t get it, do ya?

There is a MASSIVE difference between an elite female athlete choosing to celebrate the body that has allowed her to run, swim, jump, fight, win medals and be one of the best in the world, and sexualising women’s bodies in sporting positions to sell sports betting.

Those espn photos weren’t saying “look at me, now you’ll watch women’s sport”. They were celebrating what incredible bodies can do.

And I think that’s why this whole thing has irked me.

Sport has given me some of my favourite people and some of the best experiences of my life. We run together, play hockey together, do triathlons together, compete against each other, support each other and at some stage probably spent far too much time talking about all of the above 🙂‍↔️

Women’s sport is bloody good. Female athletes are bloody good.

We don’t need to make women sexy enough for men to want to watch.

Anyway, here’s to the girls who get out there and do it 🫶🏼 by @badgalpheebs
