Grateful to @interpreting_abram for setting up a museum visit for @baeblackboy and @ocgpresents to see @isaacjulien at the @deyoungmuseum and kick off Pride month! We had wonderful discussion with these lovely folks and support from de Young’s staff (shout out to Sedey). Julien’s work is rich, staggering, captivating, and a love letter to the complexities and beauty of Black people and people of color. Check out the exhibit before it leaves the museum! taken in de Young Museum by @baeblackboy

Join @baeblackboy and @ocgpresents as we explore and celebrate the works of Black, queer artist and filmmaker @isaacjulien at the @deyoungmuseum! This free event is an opportunity for queer people of color to come together, learn more about art, and build community with one another. RSVP in bio!

“Isaac Julien: I Dream a World” is a collection of 10 major video installations made between 1999 and 2022. The exhibit at the de Young is the first comprehensive survey of Julien’s work in a museum setting and his first retrospective in the United States. The event will start with an opporunity to learn more about the exhibit from de Young’s own Director of Interpretation, @interpreting_abram. You will then have the option to watch one of the films with the group and / or explore the exhibit on your own before we come back together to discuss our experience.

Space is limited and we ask that you prioritize arriving on time to experience the full program. taken in de Young Museum by @baeblackboy

Before this fabulous Black History Month ends, we want to shout out our friends at @ocgpresents for their partnership a few weeks ago! Oakland Community Gathering endeavors to bring queer people of color in Oakland together for fellowship. We are honored to be in the company of other organizations like OCG as we all work to deepens and expand our queer POC family in the Bay. Be sure to give them a follow and check out their events. We’ll be sure to see you there! taken in 1701 by @baeblackboy

Our deepest gratitude and thanks to all the amazing volunteers that came out and joined us alongside our partners at @bayardrustin1 and @baeblackboy to help pack boxes of food for @sfmfoodbank as part of our MLK Day of Service event 💪🏽🥘💪🏽

We collectively boxed over 22,848 lbs of food in over 952 boxes over two shifts, with over 30+ volunteers! That’s a lot of food to go to families and individuals who need help making ends meet.

Special thank you to several of the volunteers who came from our various chartered Democratic Clubs, including:

@sfyoungdems
@sfendc
Home Sharers Democratic Club
@westsidefamilydemocrats
@alicelgbtqdems
@uniteddemclubsf
@noevalleydems

We will host many more opportunities like this throughout the year to get involved and give back to our community, but for now, be sure to follow the good work of the SF Marin Food Bank and join us this Monday for the MLK Day March

[ADDRESS UPDATE: This week now be at 900 Pennsylvania Ave]

Join us this Friday as we volunteer with the San Francisco-Marin Food Bank! @sfmfoodbank supports over 50,000 households in San Francisco and Marin in putting food on their tables year round. We are partnering with @bayardrustin1 and @sfdemocrats to support with processing food donations this MLK Weekend, Friday January 17th. There are 2 shifts, 9am-11am and Noon-2pm. There are 15 slots per shift and we would love to fill them up 💜 sign up at the link in our bio!

This is a great opportunity to connect with other community engaged Black queer folks. We can’t wait to see yall there! taken in Sf-Marin Food Bank by @baeblackboy

BaeBlackBoy strives to facilitate spaces where Black queer men and others can build understanding and community among one another.

“We are extremely thankful to A.C.T. (and Gilead) for supporting over 60 of us in seeing A Stange Loop — a show that reflects so many of our lived experiences — together. This will be a night we remember forever.”

A Strange Loop is in San Francisco at the Toni Rembe til May 12.
