I have been in awe of how many amazing resources and individuals there are now standing together to fight fast fashion, and how much the community has grown since 2015, when my significant other discovered this then niche market while studying Sustainability Management at school. He made it clear this is the direction I should be taking my small business, and I’m sure glad I did. One of my favorite resources for hard data and accurate information on the subject of consumption still remains to be The Ethical Consumer, and they cover a wonderful spectrum of topics including home and garden, travel, energy, investments, technology, and of course, fashion. There is no better moment than the present, especially when our options are limited for how we spend our time, to make a first step to improve how we live and educate ourselves. Stylists supporting stylists, and the power of @instagram! I couldn’t find anyone who seemed right or had the portfolio that matched the aesthetic I wanted, so I decided to check out #seattlehairstylists. Low and behold, I found @hairbyalise, while on a deep dive at 5 in the morning. If you are in the Seattle area and searching for a talented braid artist, this is your girl! I’ve been thinking I should do a pop up out of our bus, as I have a pretty large collection of unique pieces from past photoshoots and items from my own wardrobe that are in beautiful condition that I’m ready to send on to a new life. I would love to collaborate with local vintage brands and Seattle friends! Weekly chats with Celine 🥰. Celine joined my team this Spring, and we recently decided to step away from work every week and take 10 minutes to discuss all that is happening in the world. With the next generation emerging in such a crazy time, full of what will hopefully be productive chaos, I wanted to hear what Celine’s projections are for the future and what she hopes and needs to see change. Even when not in the midst of an abnormal environment for doing business, there is always the constant need when working with clients to reinvent yourself, manipulate your vision, rework your strategy, ensure your offerings are well aligned with what people want, and check in that you are optimizing your own outcome and maximizing productivity. In many aspects, this is one of my favorite parts of having a platform to transform and develop, but it is also an area of being a successful business owner that takes quite a bit of ingenuity and adaptation. I would love to hear how others are manipulating their strategy in order to be able to quickly change their course of direction, and it would be great to connect with other stylists to discuss optimizing client relationships and different avenues for achieving success. Have some serious love for this beautiful handmade knit by @hope.macaulay, a small emerging designer out of Northern Ireland. Wonderful colors, textures and details, as well as an awesome background story to be found on her website. “Hope creates large expressive collaged paintings and transforms them into prints, combined with carefully constructed detailed beadings and playful garment designs. For the past few months I have been a beta tester for a super cool new software called Goodpix. Thanks to their successful launch in 2020 I am excited to announce that I will now be offering remote styling services and look books! This new tool with allow me to keep inventory of the pieces my clients purchase through client micro-sites, work together remotely through a virtual wardrobe for future styling sessions and purchasing decisions, and maximize use of new pieces through incredibly useful visuals and access to a whole new level of purchaceable pairing options. In terms of my intention to promote budget styling, I will also now be able to rework existing wardrobes in new ways helping clients fall in love with what they already own again.
