Seventeen years sober today. It’s hard to put into words what this milestone means—sobriety is so deeply a part of me now. Seventeen years without blacking out, without falling through on commitments, and without hurting everyone around me.

To be honest, I find the person I used to be embarrassing. Still, I choose to celebrate and share my story—not only to remind myself of what drugs and alcohol could have taken from me, but also to help normalize conversations around mental health.
