People say, “I made a movie!”

I used to think that would be so cool to say. But now, after actually making a movie, I realize how foolish that sounds. The truth is, WE made a movie.

Our new documentary, “Growth,” explores the healing power of laughter in the face of the scariest subject in the world. It features survivors, comedians, doctors and caregivers asking, “How do you joke about cancer? CAN you joke about cancer? And WHY should you joke about cancer?” Premiering in March at the @cinequestorg film festival in San Jose, “Growth” is the culmination of a joyful collaboration with some great, talented people; some who started off as good friends, some who became good friends.

I’m so proud to share this moment with them and all of you.

“Growth” is screening at The Grove - @amctheatres, Saturday, September 26th!

Directed by Dominic Russo and written by podcaster Bryan “Bald Bryan” Bishop, this feature documentary chronicles Bishop’s personal battle with a brain tumor. It explores the healing power of humor and the vital role of caretakers, featuring appearances from comedian Adam Carolla and Dr. Drew Pinsky. It won the Audience Award for Best Documentary at the @cinequestorg Film Festival.

I hate asking for help, especially financially. The reality is we’re in a serious situation with Bryan’s renewed cancer growth. If you are able to help provide even a tiny bit of relief from the onslaught of out-of-pocket bills for around the clock in-home care and out-of-town treatment stays, none of it is covered by insurance. I am continuing to work, care for Bryan in the hospital, pay for all our bills, and care for Tessa with a village of beloved supporters (you know who you are), but this latest round is above what I can handle financially.

Anything you’re able to share means more to us than you know.
