This is our story.

Founded in 2022 under the artistic direction of Carolyn Rose Ramsay, Ballet d’Jèrri is Jersey’s National Ballet, created to build a world-class company rooted in the Channel Islands.

From our first rehearsals in a working potato shed in 2023 to stages beyond Jersey today, our journey is shaped by artistic excellence, innovation, and community connection.

We create bold contemporary work inspired by Jersey’s heritage, collaborating with leading and emerging choreographers, and sharing dance through performance, outreach, and education.

As a registered charity, we are supported by the Government of Jersey, private donors, sponsors, and funding bodies, helping us bring dance into schools, care homes, and community spaces across the island.

We’ve come so far, but this is just the beginning.

What lies between what we see and what we feel?

Anna Daly’s new piece, “Glimmer”, is a duet created in response to Jason Butler’s current exhibition “Eutopia”. Exploring themes of memory, time and wonder alongside uncertainty, the work brings figures from the canvas into the tangible world, revealing texture, presence and new possibilities.

An invitation to look beyond the paintings and discover the movement, and feelings that might exist within it.

Carte Blanche | Behind The Curtain: Episode Four

“Signals”, a piece choreographed by Stanley Young, exploring the relationship between the deeply human and the incomprehensibly vast.

Moving between expression, communication and human interaction, the work looks beyond ourselves to the cliffs, the sea, our solar system and everything that exists beyond what we can conceive.

In this final episode of Behind The Curtain, Stanley takes us into the ideas and questions behind Signals, exploring what it means to find connection and meaning within something much larger than ourselves.

Stanley Young’s new piece, “Signals”, explores acceptance and the beauty that can be found in the ridiculous, the strange and the unexplainable.

Reflecting on how rare it is that we are alive, the work considers the immense energy and complexity required to create life, the world around us and the universe we exist within.

A piece that invites us to find beauty in the unknown, and wonder in simply being here.

A piece choreographed by Harri James Eiffert, exploring the bittersweet relationship between memory and the present.

The result, a piece that sits somewhere between the familiar and the unfamiliar, drawing on the warmth of remembered moments while allowing space for something new to emerge.

In this episode, Harri takes us behind the process of creating the piece, exploring how music, memory and personal change can be translated into movement.

Sometimes, the hardest thing to let go of is not the past itself, but the feeling of still being there.

Harri James Eiffert, explores the bittersweet nature of nostalgia, where the pleasure of remembering happy times exists alongside a quiet sense of melancholy.

Inspired by recent changes in his life, the work grew from songs whose lyrics resonated with him, later stripped back and carefully rearranged to create something that feels both old and new.

Through movement, Harri explores the beauty of living between memory and the present, a romantic blur, rose-tinted and softened by rain.

A piece that invites us to reflect on the memories we return to, and the feelings that remain long after the moment has passed.

Ombline Noyer, delves into the intricacies of an individual’s broken mind. By exposing overwhelming thoughts, the audience is invited to witness a patient’s mental retreat from the present world whilst potentially recognizing a part of their own self in the experience.

As disturbing truths are gradually revealed, so are questions that remain unanswered today...

Can a mother save her damaged child?
What is an individual’s threshold to pain?

What are the consequences of our choices..... and those we make in our darkest moments..

Carte Blanche | Behind The Curtain: Episode One

“Donna” - a duet choreographed and performed by Layla May Bruce and Roman Ho Zimbalatti.

Inspired by the Vigeland Sculpture Park in Oslo and ancient Greek material, the duet explores the vulnerability of encountering someone of a higher power; a perspective on a distinct relationship that can occur in everyday life.

Set to Joan Baez’s 1960 recording “Donna Donna”, alongside snippets of waves from our island.

What does it mean to shed, to change, and to become someone new… while knowing you may return to who you once were?

Tabi’s piece explores the changing seasons of our being: the moments that unsettle us, the ones that carry us forward, and the ones that pull us back.

Beginning as an idea for a solo work in 2020, the piece has evolved into something more mature, developed and embodied.

Through movement, breath, light and an original soundscape created by Ruairi, Tabi explores resistance, transformation and the influence our surroundings have on who we become.
