Can we all welcome Sofia to rescue!

She was just sprung from the shelter and headed to vet to get a full work up! This girl is safe because she had someone willing to foster her 🐾🩷

She was an owner Surrender at the South LA Shelter. She has some skin issues probably an ear infection and will need a full Senior work up. We’re gonna get on that so that she can find a new home!!

I picked up this kid yesterday and today we’re getting fixed up at the vet.

Ear Infection
Skin Infection
Vaccines
Allergy shot
Fecal
De-worming

Once this boy is better with all this initial stuff he will need a dental.

Please share for donations he was a owner surrender and we had no idea he was in such rough shape.

He will go into foster here in San Diego with a pug savvy home. I’m sure he’s going to be like new very soon!

On July 5th Sal and Jessica headed to Downey to pull a senior black lab on her last day, while there a volunteer asked if they could help her sister too? What?!! Nobody knew going in, there was two of them and OF COURSE we helped both girls exit the shelter!! Like most dogs coming out of the shelters these days, these girls were sick with some upper respiratory stuff and had to be hospitalized for a few weeks. Once they were feeling better we found the most amazing family to foster them. The kind of foster home you wish you had a million of!

During their time at foster we continued their health journey including senior work ups and dentals with early morning trips back and forth to CARES from San Diego.

Today I received a text from this amazing foster home asking if they could officially adopt both girls. We are ALL beyond happy and thankful these girls have been welcomed to their forever home!!

Thank you to everyone who helped us help them!! It’s not often two senior black labs who found themselves at the shelter get this kind of second chance!!

We lost Kash yesterday. He was so fragile coming in but man was he a little fighter unforntunaty his little body just couldn’t hold on. There is absolutely nothing else we could’ve have done for him. He had every test possible and his PCR was really bad. We hoped we could get all the respitory stuff under control so he could get that hernia taken care of but that nasel fistula was probably causing his respitory issues to come back through aspiration.

I was on the phone with Sal telling him I thought it was time to let him rest and he passed on his own in my arms. I hate working so hard only to lose him — we really did we try and I am peace knowing we gave it everything.

This is not a post I wanted or expected to make
so close to losing Kash but here we are. We had to let sweet Gracie go this weekend. After her senior panel came back it showed that she was hypoglycemic. Her glucose was off the charts. There is an indication in the bloodwork, she most likely had leukemia, and the mass on her mouth was already attached to the jaw, which means we would’ve had to take her entire lower jaw in order to relieve the pain it was causing and that’s not something her little body was up for now or even in the future.

I did look at my Vet and say “can I take her home for a few days and give her a little bit more time?” my vet made it clear that was not a good idea, and in my gut I knew he was right. I know we made the right decision and we gave her a good week with a nice warm bath, a soft bed, and good meds to keep her comfy 🐾🩷🐾

Our little Baldwin Park orphans are doing so good in their FWITA homes.

We will be getting their last shots done later this month and consult on when it’s best to spay and neuter.

Once they are fixed they can be officially adopted 🐾🐾🐾
