Canción 46 (Si os partiéredes al alba - If You Leave at daybreak)

Written, produced, and conducted by Adam Bravo
Text by Lope de Vega (1562-1635)

Featuring special guests @thecrystallewis (voice) and Ron Stout (trumpet)

Si os partiéredes al alba
quedito, pasito, amor,
no espantéis al ruiseñor.

Si os levantáis de mañana
de los brazos que os desean,
porque en los brazos no os vean
de alguna envidia liviana,
pisad con planta de lana
quedito, pasito, amor,
no espantéis al ruiseñor.

If you leave at daybreak
Silently, lightly, love,
Do not alarm the nightingale.

If you part at dawning,
From these arms that hold you dear,
That you not be seen in the arms
Of an enviable affair
Go on woolen tiptoe,
Silently, lightly, love,
Do not alarm the nightingale.

I had the pleasure of playing on the latest @minions movie, “Minions and Monsters,” and it was a particularly special one for a few reasons! First of all, it was major fun playing @johnj_powell ‘s virtuosically zany score, particularly as we were able to do lots of piano experimenting with killers @irenekim.pianist and @dougpettykeys. Thanks to John and @zimmittimusicgroup for having me!

But equally fun: this is the first time I’ve worked on a title that my lovely wife @micheleeza was planning the premiere for! I was able to attend and see her badass self and team in action.

And then as ANOTHER bonus, @illuminationent decided a few days before the premiere that they wanted to do a Minionese singing contest and that they wanted a live accompanist. Fortunately I was available, and so if you swipe left, you can see one of the odder accompanist jobs I’ve had in my career. (All the contestants actually ended up being great)! by @bandpassbravo

A few highlights from the past few months.

1. MDed a new show at @garrymarshalltheatre, Earth to Squiggy,” featuring the music of Lenny and the Squigtones from Laverne and Shirley, written by the amazing and funny @aellis3 and @natalie_lander (who happens to be Squiggy’s real life daughter), along with Matt Leavitt. Pictured here, Lenny (Michael McKean) came by to say hey!

2. Wrote battery parts for the Dolphins - Commanders halftime show dolphins in Madrid, featuring Bizarrap and Daddy Yankee. Thanks to producer @mattmcguiredrums, horn arranger @mikecottonemusic and referral @timboslice146 for trusting me to learn the instrumentation of a Spanish marching band (DCI it is not!)

3. Played some piano on live acoustic videos with the very talented @emmymelimusic (she’s singing live and real here!). This is the first - more to come.

4. Spent most other waking minutes with these two - we’re in toddler land now and little Rio is turning out to be whip smart and a lot of fun like his mom @micheleeza ! by @bandpassbravo

Presale link is live for our June 4 Guaraldi Agogo show in downtown LA! This show pays tribute to Peanuts composer Vince Guaraldi’s ‘60s bossa nova era. Our good friends at @jazz_under_ground are presenting us at @stowawaydtla from 8:00-10:30. Link in bio.

In this clip we’re playing Vince’s original “Casaba,” a perfect blend of bossa nova and funky ‘60s boogaloo.

Tickets are $12 presale and $15 at the door. Nobody else is playing Vince Guaraldi music at these prices!! If you’re an Angeleno (broadly construed) we hope to see you there! by @bandpassbravo

Join us on May 29 at 7 PM at Agua Caliente Casino Palm Springs for the inaugural performance of “Guaraldi Agogo!” This is the Duck Soup Trio’s tribute to Vince Guaraldi’s Latin era, where he combined American jazz, pop, and boogie woogie with Brazilian bossa nova. We’re particularly excited to add our good friend Luca Pino (@_lucapino_) on guitar, paying tribute to Bola Sete, the Brazilian guitar virtuoso who recorded many albums with Vince.

This show is presented by the Carousel concert series (@carouselshows) in the Cascade Lounge at Agua Caliente Casino Palm Springs. 21+, 6:00 PM doors, 7:00 PM show, complimentary covered parking, non-smoking, no drink minimum (and you can bring in food from any casino restaurant!). Tickets begin at $17.85 - link in bio! by @bandpassbravo

The Duck Soup Trio is proud to announce a new show: Guaraldi Agogo!

Before he made childhood hip with his iconic Peanuts soundtracks, Vince Guaraldi was one of the first American musicians to embrace the rhythms and sounds of Brazilian bossa nova. Guaraldi Agogo is our love letter to that era of Vince’s work, which includes both Guaraldi originals and unique arrangements of ‘60s classics like Jobim’s “The Girl From Ipanema” and the Beatles’ “I’m a Loser.” We’re particularly excited to partner with guitarist extraordinaire Luca Pino @_lucapino_ to pay tribute to Vince’s collaborations with Brazilian guitar virtuoso Bola Sete. If you’re a fan of jazz, bossa nova, or just the swinging ‘60s in general, you won’t want to miss this.

Our first performances of this show are at Carousel in Palm Springs on May 29 and at Jazz Under Ground at the Stowaway on June 4. More details are forthcoming - we hope to see you there! by @bandpassbravo

7 months old on my last day of maternity leave. We have spent nearly every single second trying to figure one another out, often times through many, many, MANY tears. You have the best belly laugh I have ever heard and the loudest most piercing scream cry 🙃. Despite being thrown some unfair hurdles you are the most resilient, kind, sweet, human I’ve ever known. This job is the hardest one I’ve ever had. Matrescence has been beautiful, painful (physically and emotionally), rewarding, maddening , and deeply felt. While I wish I could spend all of my time with you, I know this transition will be a positive one for all of us and you will continue to blossom. Happiest 7 months to you sweet Rio, our littlest fig forever. by @bandpassbravo

Devyn Rush and her band—featuring Jeremy Lappitt, Nick Klingenberg, Greg Sadler, and Adam Bravo—began playing Until You Come Back to Me for Stevie Wonder and the crowd at the Lutefish booth during NAMM 2025. Stevie walked over to Devyn, and the two shared the mic for an impromptu and stunning duet.

Devyn’s bandmates performed remotely using Lutefish Stream devices, a groundbreaking technology that enables real-time music collaboration with ultra-low latency. "Meeting and singing with Stevie was a childhood dream come true," said Devyn. by @bandpassbravo

It’s that time of year! The Duck Soup Trio, Southern California’s only Vince Guaraldi tribute, is playing the music of A Charlie Brown Christmas. Whether you’re in LA, OC, or the desert, we’ve got you covered. We’ve been doing this for well over a decade and it’s a highlight of our year. Hope to see you there! by @bandpassbravo

Surprise! Highly recommend marrying the best person you’ve ever met in grandmas yard. ❤️

Thank you @jordankelseyknight for truly capturing the best day ever. by @bandpassbravo
