The September Garden, an age old Bandra tradition, it feels like a little time capsule that visits us each year, bringing with it a sense of nostalgia, a breathe of what Bandra looked like and felt like years ago and how it continues to grow.

If you’re in Bandra this weekend you must visit the September garden 🤎✨ taken in September Garden by @bandrainfo

The streets around Mount Mary fill with lights, stalls, music, food, candles and thousands of people coming together in celebration. ✨

What started as a religious feast became something even bigger a beautiful part of Bandra’s identity and September nostalgia.

So if you’re walking through Bandra this week, take a little detour up the hill…
Because September in Bandra just isn’t September without Mount Mary. 💙 taken in Mount Marry's Church, Bandra by @bandrainfo

For me, Bandra Fair will always mean childhood memories the rides, the food, the games, and those little traditional stalls you’d look forward to every year.

But behind the fun is a story that goes back almost 300 years.

From the legend of Mother Mary’s statue being found in the Arabian Sea to generations of families returning to the fair every year, Bandra Fair has become so much more than a religious celebration.

It’s a place where faith, food, culture and people come together.

But this year, rising stall prices have made it difficult for many traditional vendors to be part of the fair.

And that’s what makes these traditions worth talking about because when we preserve the people and stories behind them, we preserve a little piece of Mumbai too. ❤️

What’s your favourite Bandra Fair memory?
Tell me in the comments. 👇

For over 450 years, St. Andrew’s has quietly watched Bandra change around it from a Portuguese village to the chaotic and beautiful neighbourhood we know today. Built around 1575 by Portuguese Jesuits, the church has survived cyclones, wars, changing streets and generations of Bandra families, becoming so much more than a place of worship it became a part of the neighbourhood’s memory.

And now, after nearly 20 months of restoration, St. Andrew’s has opened its doors again. But this wasn’t about making an old church look new; it was about bringing its old soul back to life. Original architectural details were carefully restored, forgotten features uncovered and the character of the church preserved for the generations that come next. ✨🤍 taken in St. Andrew's Church, Mumbai by @bandrainfo

THE WAY BANDRA ENDS: A Glimpse Into Our Future

What will Bandra look like in 2050?

Will the leafy lanes, heritage homes, village precincts and close-knit neighbourhoods that define our beloved suburb survive the relentless march of redevelopment? Or are we heading towards a future of soaring towers, overcrowded streets and unsustainable urban density?

Join us at the Bandra Gymkhana for a thought-provoking presentation by architect and urban designer Samir D’Monte, Principal Architect of SDM Architects and a founding member of Bandra Collective. Through compelling visuals, data and real-world projections, Samir will reveal how current development regulations could transform a typical Bandra street from a community of just 100 residents and 8 cars in the 1950s into a corridor accommodating many thousands of people and vehicles in the decades ahead.

Titled ”The Way Bandra Ends”, this powerful presentation challenges us to consider whether the future we are building is one that Bandra can truly sustain.

A respected architect, conservationist and civic advocate, Samir has spent over two decades shaping projects across India while actively contributing to the preservation and revitalisation of Bandra’s unique character through initiatives such as the Carter Road Promenade redesign and the renewal of Ranwar Village.

This is more than a presentation it is a conversation about the future of the place we call home.

📅 Saturday, 20th June 2026
🕡 6:45 PM onwards
📍 East Indian Hall, Bandra Gymkhana
🎟️ Free Entry for Members & Guests

Come and see the numbers. Consider the consequences. Join the conversation.
Because the future of Bandra belongs to all of us.

💬 Share your favourite Bandra Talao memory in the comments and tell us—restoration or repeated renovation?

200 years ago, Bandra Talao was built to provide drinking water to Navpada village.

Today, it’s been completely drained for a ₹15 crore beautification project.

For many Mumbaikars, this lake is more than a water body—it’s a childhood memory. But after an ₹8 crore revamp in 2019, we’re back here again.

The question isn’t whether Bandra Talao can be restored. It’s whether we understand what went wrong the last time—and whether there’s a plan to maintain it long after the restoration is complete.

What are your memories of Bandra Talao? Do you think this revamp will finally work? by @bandrainfo

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗿𝗰𝗮𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗧𝗲𝗹𝗹 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗮’𝘀 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆

Long before the Portuguese arrived, Bandra’s villages were defined by single-level homes, open courtyards, and a way of life shaped by climate and community.

With colonial influence came a new architectural language multi-level homes and the now-iconic external staircases. More than a design feature, they reflected changing family structures, evolving lifestyles, and the growth of the neighbourhood itself.

Walk through 𝗥𝗮𝗻𝘄𝗮𝗿, 𝗖𝗵𝘂𝗶𝗺, 𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗮𝗹𝗶, and these staircases still remain quiet reminders of a Bandra that once was.

Because sometimes, history isn’t preserved in monuments.
It survives in the homes people continue to inhabit.
