Dear Lexi,

Yesterday was one of the hardest days of my life. I still can’t believe I had to say goodbye to you after 13 years together. Thirteen years of memories, adventures, routines, comfort, and unconditional love. You weren’t just my dog,you were my sidekick, my constant through every season of life.

You were there through the highs and the lows, through moves, heartbreaks, celebrations, and quiet moments no one else ever saw. You were the vault to all my secret. We traveled all over the country together, and no matter where we went, as long as I had you, it felt like home.

I already miss the little things the most. I miss my bathroom chaperone who somehow believed I could never go alone. I miss hearing your snores echo through the house like you had just worked a 12-hour shift and paid all the bills. I miss finding you sleeping in the weirdest positions and places possible, somehow looking both uncomfortable and completely at peace at the same time. My side is lonely as my shadow is now gone.

The silence in the house now feels unbearable.

Watching you decline over these past few months broke my heart in ways I can’t even explain. Seeing you change so quickly, seeing the confusion in your eyes, seeing your body grow tired it hurt so much because I wanted so badly to fix it. I tried everything I could to make you better. I would have done anything to keep you here. But nothing worked, and as much as I wanted to hold on, I couldn’t bear watching you suffer anymore.

Making that decision shattered me, even though everyone kept saying it was the right thing to do. It didn’t feel right in the moment. It just felt like losing a piece of my heart.

Thank you for loving me so faithfully for 13 years. Thank you for every road trip, every cuddle, every laugh, every greeting at the door, every moment you stayed by my side when I didn’t even realize how much I needed you there.

I hope you knew how deeply you were loved every single day of your life.

I will carry you with me forever, Lexi.

My wedding dress didn’t zip...
Anita bought it anyway.

Here’s what most brides don’t realize:

🤍 A dress being too small does NOT automatically mean it’s ruined.
✂️ Construction matters more than the size on the tag.
🧵 Seam allowance, fabric type, and structure determine what’s possible.
✈️ And yes — sometimes it’s worth flying in for the right hands.

Anita trusted the process.
And we made it fit beautifully.

If your dress doesn’t close — don’t panic.
There are often more options than the internet tells you.

You are my best friend because I wouldn’t dare be this weird with anyone else. You are the greatest blessing I never knew I needed. You encourage me. You challenge me. You provide me unconditional love. I hope we’re friends until we die. Then, I hope we stay ghost friends so we can walk through walls and scare people. ( we are corny, don’t judge us) You make sure to be there on my best days ( even if not in person.lol) as well as my worst days( boy, did I have a lot last year) It’s an adventure every time we link up. 🫶🏽 But the best is yet to come…. The most precious thing I have to give is my time. The week with @obapexcellence ACE academy in Atlanta was nothing short of amazing. Seeing the passion I have for aviation being planted in the next generation warmed my heart. I left this week feeling so full. ❤️ It is every man’s obligation to put back into the world at least the equivalent of what he takes out of it. I would be doing a major disservice to my community to harbor the phenomenal resources that have put me in my position today. Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can’t change the world.
