ONE VERY HAPPY ARTIST! I’ve got some rather wonderful news to share… I’ve been awarded Developing Your Creative Practice grant funding from Arts Council England! I’m absolutely over the moon, knowing that @aceagrams see potential in the future development of my work - it’s a real confidence boost. For 8 years, I’ve built my career around animal portraits and wildlife art, but recently I’ve been exploring oil painting, landscapes and a more expressive approach to capturing all of the natural world. And something has clicked! and it all started with an oil painting workshop with @jennyaitkenart This new direction is already influencing my wildlife paintings, including my latest peregrine falcon, which combines fine detail with a much looser, expressive background and goes on show from today at @associationofanimalartists exhibition at @thestationrichmond Now, thanks to this funding, I’ll have 8 months from December to develop my skills, work with experienced artists and mentors, buy new equipment and spend more time painting outdoors directly from nature. The animals aren’t going anywhere! But expect more plein air painting, creative adventures and original artwork inspired by our beautiful natural world. A special thank you to @filrcoach for her ongoing support and guidance, and to Jenny Aitken for her encouragement and for inspiring me to explore this exciting new direction. ❤️ I genuinely can’t wait to see where this takes me, and I’d love you to follow along! #acesupported #DYCP #oilpaintingartist #landscapepaintings #derbyshireartist taken in Derbyshire by @banksmillstudios

From a dream to reality For a while, I’ve had this dream of seeing Derby Market Hall feeling vibrant, creative and full of life again and today, we actually made it happen. I teamed up with @sunter_studio to bring together artists, makers and creatives from @banksmillstudios for a takeover of @derbymarkethall … and we DID JUST THAT. The energy in there today was incredible. So many artists showed up, people came through the doors, creativity was everywhere, and the Market Hall was the busiest I’ve seen it Watching the space come alive with so many talented creatives honestly felt surreal. I still can’t quite believe how successful today was. A HUGE thank you to everyone who came along, supported us, bought something, joined a workshop, had a chat, shared our posts or simply showed up. It genuinely meant so much. And the biggest thank you to all of the Banks Mill Makers who came and made the day what it was. We couldn’t have done it without you. Today reminded me of something really important: If you have a dream, make it happen. You never know where one little idea, one conversation or one brave decision might take you. Today, a dream I had became a room full of creativity, connection and community. And I’m so bloody proud of that. Here’s to making spaces feel creative, welcoming and ALIVE again. ❤️ by @banksmillstudios

On Saturday I’ll be taking part in the @banksmillstudios takeover of @derbymarkethall so I’ve been busy in the print studio. These 2-colour screenprints on heavyweight @fedrigoni_uk paper will be amongst a few new prints I’ll have for sale. It’s also gonna be my first proper market so come along and and say hi. It’s @derbyfeste on the same day so the city centre should be poppin’ (as thee cool kids say). There’ll be about 20 of us from Banks Mill who will have stalls or be running workshops throughout the day - it should be a blast! taken in Derby Market Hall by @banksmillstudios

SO… What does it look like when banks mill takes over the market hall 👀 Well, this is a little glimpse into my slice of Banks Mill that I'll be bringing At Bello Mind & Soul, creativity is about so much more than making something that looks “good.” It’s about play, self-expression, connection, exploring feelings and having the freedom to create in your own way. A lot of the footage in this video is from my sessions in the studio and honestly, I think it gives you the perfect little taste of the energy I’ll be bringing to Market Hall! But here's the exciting part… I’m only ONE of 15 artists, creators and facilitators from Banks Mill taking over the space. So imagine walking into Market Hall and being surrounded by 15 completely different creative worlds different art forms, different ideas, different people and different things to discover. Browse Shop Explore Get involved Meet the creatives behind the work And, of course, come and find me for the Bello Mind & Soul Creative Wellbeing Experiene where you can drop in, choose a creative prompt, make something and take it home with you. Market Hall, Derby Saturday 26 September 10am–5pm FREE ENTRY Creative Wellbeing Experience — £5 I genuinely cannot wait to see what happens when Banks Mill comes to Market Hall! 💗 by @banksmillstudios
