🏆What a thrill to attend the @theacademy New Member reception. It’s been a whirlwind the past few weeks! Becoming an Academy member was definitely on my bucket list but it seemed very far away. What a beautiful manifestation of a dream. 🥰 I enjoyed working at the Academy 10 years ago with my dear friend @bettina.fisher11 in the education department and it was truly a joy to be able to celebrate this moment with her and some of my other friends, creatives and colleagues. @farrahfazal @effiet.brown @kathryn_bostic Definitely a night to remember. Thank you 👉🏽@dmasslion @karamuu @sweet_sue_shine @hollywoodshorts I am so grateful to be here. And to continue creating and supporting other filmmakers as I make my dreams come true. And of course, thank you to the Academy 😉🖤🙏🏽🫶🏽 #grateful #shortfilms #theacademy #dreambig (short films branch) #manifestation 💝 @supermandoesntstealfilm @makeafilmfoundation Thanks @carolannshine @chrisbealprods by @baobabt

Au revoir Paris!🇫🇷 Y’all - of course Paris deserves its own post. 😅🥂🍾One of my favorites cities which I got to enjoy with one of my BFF’s @bettina.fisher11 making croissants, drinking wine & eating good food and - chocolate! 😅 and (in addition to the fantastic Whale Screenwriting lab) @obravenewstory had the added bonus of spending time with one of my oldest, dearest friends @jayjorgealvarez whom I hadn’t seen in years - and literally just ‘happened’ to be in Paris for a few weeks. I mean… what are the chances? Paris - you don’t owe me nothing! And… oui - I could live here! ☺️ C’est vie est tres jolie! #paris #grateful #friends #lifeisgood #writerslife by @baobabt

Y’all! I am absolutely thrilled to make the next round: Semi-Finalist- of the @shorescripts TV Mentorship competition. I was thrilled to be a quarterfinalist, and I’m so happy to make it to the next stage. How apropos that the project that got the nod is the Pilot for my TV series “Black, White & Blue” that I am currentlyin Paris developing with the @obravenewstory Whale Screenwriting Lab! It’s so lovely to receive a little validation that lets me know I’m on the right track! And gives me that little spark to keep going. ❤️‍🔥Thank you so much to all those at #shorescripts and thank you to all of my cohorts and teachers at the whale screenwriting lab in Paris! I am having the most incredible time and have received such wonderful feedback on my script and project. More on that later. Paris is the perfect place for writers! So much inspiration. Celebrate all wins as there are no small wins! 🤞🏽🤞🏽🤞🏽 fingers crossed that I make it to the final stage ‼️🖤🙏🏽🥰 #grateful #paris #writer #semifinalist by @baobabt

"Make magic, make mistakes. Focus on the magic, not on the mistakes."

Award-winning filmmaker Tamika Lamison on perfection as poison, and why the grace to get it wrong is how you get better.

We first met Tamika at the Black Girls Film Camp retreat, then Essence 2024, and she came to our Season Six Celebration and gave us these gems.

The full conversation with OWN's Kai Bowe is live on YouTube — link in bio.
