The 1932 Ford Deuce, nicknamed for the second digit in its model year, was the first affordable car with a V8 engine. Its low cost, powerful V8, and ubiquity made it a favorite among early hot rodders. The side-valve V-8 flathead Ford engine in the 1932 Model 18 displaced 221 cubic inches and produced 65 horsepower.

The term “deuce coupe” burst onto the pop culture scene in 1963 with the Beach Boys B-side hit, “Little Deuce Coupe.” The deuce coupe would gain further fame as the mechanical star of George Lucas’ 1973 cult classic, American Graffiti.

I watched my father work on mostly GM vehicles while growing up, so it’s safe to say Ford quite literally never had a place in life. But my secret love for like cars like Model B and 18 is unfaltering and most likely rooted in lore of Chicago mobsters.

Fun fact: (1.) The Model A was driven by John Dillinger and Clyde Barrow, who wrote a letter to Henry Ford thanking him for the car’s speed and dependability. (2.) Al Capone owned two fully bulletproof 1928 Cadillac Series 341. Originally selling at $355k, 1 of the 2 is now priced $1M. by @barchefdante

Life is crazy all the time not just sometimes. This morning I laughed to myself as I went to put on the shirt you recently gave me that I’d wore yesterday. I thought damn this is musty and this fool would roast me for throwing this back on as I chucked it into the hamper. Only an hour did life hit me like a bag of bricks when I found out you’d left this world. I’m still in disbelief. I don’t want to believe it at all. When fatherhood got the best of us we had each other to lean on and we’d laugh our way through it together and share game with each other. The good and the bad. I know you’d want me to keep my chin up but man it’s going to be difficult accepting that I won’t get to share meals or drinks with you, or dap you up 5 times or more until you actually leave. You’ll live on forever here brother, that’s a promise. Love you Trinity. by @barchefdante

This is a story about natural lighting. A tale reminiscent of riding bikes, summer sunsets and going home when the street lights came on. From a time where I would watch dust elegantly float in the glare of the golden hour through the blinds of my home.

There’s things that hide in the shadows and some too in the light. I like to walk the line of the thin veil that lies between the two. It’s there where orbs flicker and dance not only for the naked eye, but for restless souls dead set on contemplating the unexplainable
