Sitting at the park - Fidgeting in nature My hands need stimulation, so that my mind can rest. I could probably sit for hours with a pile of twigs and do this walking away fully regulated afterward.😅 What's your favourite stim? I have a few which I have come to accept over the years as I have been taught through the stims of my son. Holding space for his stims has taught me to hold space for my own as well. May you find the safe spaces to regulate in the ways that help you most. Lots of love, F.🤗 #stimulation #regulationtools #Nervoussystemhealing #alwayslove #acceptancewithin by @barely_parenting
Oh Mental Health... Somehwere between... That's just the way I have always been, Is this the way I am supposed to be, It's just the way I am, Is this this the right way to be, Agh but I am functioning right? Should I speak to someone, Do I need help, Where do I start, Will it change me, How will it change me, Will it get better? Is it going to get hard, Do I want to change, How will I know who I actually am anymore, How will I move through life with the changes, Will it be more difficult than staying the same, Will the reality hurt? Can I manage the pain if I face it, Will someone help me hold it, Will someone hold me as I hold it, Am I solely responsible, Do I carry it alone, How do I invite a different perspective? At what point does it feel like healing, What does healing feel like, What does safety feel like, Is it healing yet, What is the meaning of healing, Will I ever heal enough? Will the meaning of safety change for me, How will I know what actual safety feels like, Will it be a scary place, How will I allow myself to sit in it, Will I get used to it, Will it be my friend? I think there may be more light, Not that the shadows will disappear, Perhaps they will come into the light, Maybe they will feel a little safer to show up too, To speak, To open up, To find peace, To becomes smaller, Once they let go of all the heaviness... Perhaps I will like this healing version, Maybe the changes will begin to feel like an old friend, It will lessen the depth of the pain, And give more space to bright places within me... Maybe, just maybe I will begin to feel less scattered and more whole and perhaps there is space for me within myself to thrive! #mentalhealthreset #mentalwellness #mentalillnessawareness #safetyfirst #lovethyself by @barely_parenting
Trigger warning ED. Food Food comes with so much responsibility yeah? The way we name it, talk about it, comment on it, serve it, or make it & even eat it. With cutlery or one's hands, prepared with gloves or bare hands, washed or unwashed, cleaned & prepped or thrown in & hoping for the best. Food can be an art or a trauma trigger. Food for me has always been joy, sharing & regulation in the growing, buying, creating & serving process. I do not share the food on my plate easily, but I will always offer beforehand & make or buy lots so that everyone can eat if they so wish. I regularly bake & cook, taking it to work to share. It's part of my love language. I have tried to instil good habits around Food for my kids. No bad foods or junk foods etc. Just all foods in moderation & eating things that help us function or give our bodies what it needs to thrive. My Mo grew up around silent covert food restrictions, like the best pieces in the pot for the man of the house, & a monitoring of how much is on one's plate etc. Food is a trigger in so many ways for him. He is the first to offer & share, to give away the best on his plate & even the piece he was saving for himself. When it comes to him, I am always intentional about not naming food mine, or yours etc because food is there to be eaten by everyone. He will always be the first to sacrifice, eat less, make an alternative so that everyone else can get the best. If he buys food, he ensures everyone gets, if he feels for something & is in company, if we all can't get then he'd rather stay without it. When he has to give, his heart is open & he gives it freely. It's been a long journey healing from these & they still sit heavy on his heart in the tiniest of gestures. I have friends healing from eating disorders & I have seen first hand what simple language around food can do in a positive & negative way. Food consciousness & a healthy environment around food guarding etc is so vital as it is a primary source of survival & human life. My biggest joy is being witness to people eating with enjoyment without inhibitions, hesitation or feeling like a burden - because food was meant to be shared freely, right? by @barely_parenting
It's a good make up day and beautiful weather! Omo drove us to work, skipped the bus this morning. Issa going to be a positive week ahead, wore sandals and a dress! Yay! (Bus chronicles) My littlest baby turned 7, she had the best day and was super exhausted. End of year fatigue is setting in... I can see it in some of the students and can feel it settling in deep within my bones. Wriggling and yawning and finding a comfortable space to slumber until proper rest arrives. I have also applied for leave for the first time since Jan! I am taking an extra long weekend for some recouping. I hope to make it peaceful and restful, InshaAllah. Apart from heat rash and eczema, I am mostly joyful about the warmer weather, the sunshine and the lighter clothes. This song is all over tiktok and it has been an ear worm for a week now. Lots of love, F.🤗 by @barely_parenting
Recent Sourdough Bakes... The chocolate swirl banana loaf was the best thing I've devoured in a while!!! I finally got a soft sandwich bread recipe after several trials and errors. I am just so glad that all attempts were edible breads, just a difference in texture and chewiness. I live breathe this sourdough baking life now. #sourdough #chocolateloaf #delicious #homebaker #regulation by @barely_parenting

Heartbreak My children will never know heartbreak A shattered heart Crushed into pieces Scattered like sharp shards Cutting deep They will most certainly be acquainted with pain They will come to know hurt And the squeezing sensation of grief All energy in motion That's movable Healable Inevitable Releasable And normal They will know them beside joy, happiness, safety, peace, acceptance and love They will feel them through Tears, screams, sobs and self expression like art, dance, music and affectionate holding Oh yes... They shall never need fixing, Piecing together Or the external validation of brokenness breathed into being. No, my children shall not traverse upon a gifted earth Or live through a blessed life carrying a broken heart... For broken things are perennial and emotions are ephemeral So let the latter be felt and the other be crushed out of existence! Love, F ❤️ #love #emotions #poetry #heartbreak #healing by @barely_parenting
Today is a day I encourage gratefulness up from the corners of my heart to the forefront... I drag it up with gentle pulls, never letting go, to watch it fall again... The higher it climbs, the whispers align... Fading my anger, stress & despondency. A sister who has my back, Who stands beside me as we carry financial burdens together. A mother who carries and holds, Providing care and love to the kids I leave at home whilst I work. My children who embrace joy, Like it is something absolutely intrinsic and a gratefulness that makes mine shy in its presence. My Moey who has been gentle with my stress, my safe space, the man working hard to build a better future for us, a more stable one where there's security. Holding down for this time allowing for space for him to do that has been incredibly difficult and yet he has done the same for years. I am so grateful that I could study and that because of that I have the ability to hold down with help for now. I am so grateful for family that makes holding down a lot less lonely and heavy. May the gratefulness show itself more often, May it caress its way through the stress, Stroke the anxiety to calm, And continue to build resilience towards the warmth and light... Lots of love, F❤️ by @barely_parenting

I saw a tiktok with this song and the shop attendant taking an order and dancing - being a complete and utter incomparable vibe! It stuck, cue earworm! So this morning I listened to it, then it was stuck in my muscles and needed to be released somehow. So, I did just that! Have a beautiful day y'all. Lots and lots of love, F.❤️ #music #love #healingjourney #selfcompassion #beingfree by @barely_parenting
