Amsterdam’s best cocktail bars, buurt by buurt 🍸 (Buurt is Dutch for neighborhood.) We got curious and crunched the numbers 🍸 We took the 10 cities with the most menus in our app (5,882 drinks from 280 bars) and worked out what a drink costs in each. London tops the menu prices at a median of £16. Once you add tax and a 20% tip, though, New York is the priciest place to drink: a $21 cocktail ends up at about $27. A drink in Bangkok costs less than half that, even with the „++“ on top. Which bars are included in Barhopper’s Guide Barhopper’s Guide is a curated guide focused on exceptional cocktail bars around the world. Our aim is not to be comprehensive, but selective. We highlight places that stand out through quality, intent, and credibility, and that matter within their local bar culture. At its core, a bar included in the guide must place cocktails at the center of its identity. While there are many great beer bars, wine bars, and dive bars globally, these are generally outside our scope. In rare cases, a bar that is not primarily defined as a cocktail bar may still be included if it consistently serves high quality cocktails and plays an important role within its local bar scene. A simple principle applies. Any bar listed should be one we would confidently recommend to cocktail or bar enthusiasts without hesitation. Bars in the guide should naturally be mentioned when people talk about the best bars of their city, regardless of how large or small that scene may be. Recognition within the bar industry is a strong signal. Bars that have appeared in respected international or national rankings and awards are likely to be included, provided their current concept still aligns with a cocktail focused approach. Respect and popularity among bartenders and industry professionals further strengthens a bar’s profile. Exceptional drinks are essential. This may mean classic cocktails executed perfectly, a strong original menu, or a clearly innovative concept. Service should meet professional standards and contribute positively to the experience. Atmosphere, music, and design matter when they support the identity of the bar. Inclusion decisions are made by an international community of bartenders and bar enthusiasts. Bars can be proposed by community members and discussed within an internal expert panel. Ongoing anonymous feedback ensures the guide remains credible over time. by @barhoppers.guide

One of my favourite after-work spots in Berlin. Welcome to BAR PETER‘S! @peters.bln calls itself a dive bar, but in the best possible way: a place that’s all about good music, good friends, local art, and zero pretension. The kind of bar where you walk in for “one drink” and end up staying because the atmosphere is just that easy and familiar. I also had a really fun interview with Aaron, the bar manager, such a great guy and a big part of what makes this place feel so welcoming.
