This post feels extra special to me. Margo has been waiting with the rescue for too long, and she deserves a family of her own—a fresh start, a cozy home, and people who choose her for good. 💗 At about 1½ years old and 48 pounds, Margo is smart, affectionate, playful, and ready to be your best friend. She’s house trained, crate trained, great in the car, and already knows several commands. She’d love an active family to take her on adventures, keep teaching her new things, and make her part of everyday life. Margo has done well with kids; older children may be the best fit for her energetic, playful personality. Could she be the one you’ve been waiting for? Please share to help Margo find her people, or reach out to the rescue to learn more about adopting her. 🥹💕 by @barkaboutitrescue
🚨 DEADLINE 11/3/26 Jenga is just 2 years old and is scheduled to be euthanized tomorrow, 11/3, at an overcrowded Houston shelter. One of the shelter volunteers absolutely fell in love with this girl. She described Jenga as incredibly sweet, gentle, and affectionate. She walks nicely on a leash, takes treats gently, and loves being close to people. When the volunteer leaned down to hug her, Jenga melted right into her and pressed her face against hers. 🤍 She’s just needs a little TLC, but she’s already showing improvement. She also did wonderfully during her interactions with other dogs! We would love nothing more than to give Jenga the chance to get healthy and find a family of her own, but we need fosters to make that happen. HOUSTON, TX: Foster needed through 11/27 PITTSBURGH, PA: Foster or foster-to-adopt needed starting 11/29 We need BOTH commitments to save her. Please share Jenga and help us find the people who can give her a chance. Apply or donate through link in bio! 📸 @allgoodpups_htx @rn_4_shelterpups ⸻ Bark About It Rescue is 501c3 foster based rescue in Southwestern PA. 🚨 JENGA IS ON THE EUTHANASIA LIST FOR TUESDAY 11/3. PITTSBURGH, WE NEED YOU! We have the opportunity to save Jenga, but we CANNOT pull her without foster commitments in BOTH Texas and Pennsylvania. Foster offers in the Pittsburgh area have been incredibly low lately, and it’s making it harder and harder for us to save dogs like Jenga. We need ALL HANDS ON DECK. Please don’t wait for someone else to step up. That someone might never come. 💔 📍 HOUSTON, TX: Temporary foster needed through 11/27. 📍 PITTSBURGH, PA: Foster or foster-to-adopt commitment needed starting 11/29. Meet Jenga! She’s just 2 years old and 57 pounds. She’s currently very thin and could use some TLC, but underneath it all is an incredibly sweet, well-behaved girl who deserves a chance. Here’s what a shelter volunteer shared: “When I met Jenga, the first thing I noticed was how thin she was and how flaky her skin was. I could see how beautiful she would be if she gained a little bit of weight and got a good bath and grooming.” “She walked well on the leash however she kept stopping and looking up at me when I was walking with her.” “She was so well-behaved also. We did do a temperament test with her and she did excellent there as well. She’s such a good girl and she’s so beautiful. I hope she gets a chance to flourish in a wonderful home.” Jenga doesn’t need much. Just someone willing to give her a chance. We have the rescue. We have the transportation. We just need the homes. If you’ve been thinking about fostering, NOW is the time. Even if you can only foster temporarily, please reach out. Every offer matters. 🔗 APPLY ASAP: Link in bio! Please SHARE, especially with friends and family in the Pittsburgh area. We cannot save her without a complete plan in place. 📸 @allgoodpups_htx @rn_4_shelterpups ⸻ Bark About It Rescue is 501c3 foster based rescue in Southwestern PA. 🚨 HOUSTON, TX — WE NEED FOSTERS! Our Houston trip is almost here, and thanks to the incredible support we’ve received through our fundraisers, we’re hoping to save quite a few dogs! But before we can say YES to saving them, we need somewhere safe for them to land. Starting November 11th, we’ll be pulling dogs from the shelter while visiting Houston, and we’re looking for fosters in the Houston area who can take dogs in immediately!
We’re currently gathering foster commitments and availability for November 11th through December 17th. We’ll have a variety of foster needs during that time, so whether you can foster for a few days, a couple of weeks, or longer, we want to hear from you!
You don’t have to be available for the entire time frame. Even a short window of availability could make it possible for us to save another life. Our fundraisers are helping us cover the costs of saving these dogs, but we can’t save them without foster homes. If you’re in or near Houston and can open your home to a dog in need, please reach out! And if you can’t foster, sharing this post could help us find someone who can.
Let’s make this trip count! 🩵 #HoustonFosters #FosterDogs #HoustonTexas #BarkAboutItRescue #FosterSavesLives by @barkaboutitrescue
Some of these are funny. Some are a little too real. 🫠👻 Ask anyone in rescue, our haunted house looks a little different. Which haunted house is the scariest? Tell us what we missed, or share the one that hit home 😮‍💨 by @barkaboutitrescue
As Pitbull Awareness month wraps up we wanted to spread some pittie love 🩵. Many of us in rescue started just like everyone else - we may have had bias against pitties based on stories we’ve heard or how the media portrays them. But if you love a pittie, you’ve probably had to defend them to multiple people, because they are literally scared of their own shadow. It’s so heartbreaking to see shelters full of them, knowing so many of them are truly just sweet little couch potatoes who just want to bake in the sun, and be near you. We wish more people got to know the dogs we know. The couch hogs, the blanket burrowers, the kid nannies, the wiggle butts, the ones who insist on sitting in your lap even though they weigh 60 pounds. There are so many sitting in shelters waiting for someone to give them a chance. Help us break the stereotypes and change the stigma 🫶🏼. by @barkaboutitrescue
Our latest transport arrived in Pittsburgh recently, and we couldn’t be happier to welcome these sweet faces to Pennsylvania! Please give a warm welcome to Mia, Honey Dew, Noelle, Trixie, Rowan, Kiley, Bruno, Skye, Carmen, Santo, Faith, Patina, and Savannah! From Texas to Pittsburgh, each of these dogs has been given the chance to start a new chapter, and none of it would be possible without the incredible people who make rescue happen. A huge thank you to our Texas fosters for loving them until transport day, our transport team for getting them here safely, and our Pennsylvania fosters for opening their homes and hearts. Honey Dew, Noelle, Trixie, Kiley, Skye, Carmen, Santo, and Patina are all still looking for their forever homes! If one of these sweet faces catches your eye, we’d love for you to apply to adopt. Welcome to Pittsburgh, babies! We’re so happy you’re here. 🩵 #BarkAboutItRescue #RescueDogs #FosterDogs #PittsburghDogs #adoptme by @barkaboutitrescue
We have some sad news to share. 💔 The dog behind our rescue logo, Bubba, has passed away. Bubba, formerly known as Bruce, was rescued from Philadelphia by our founder, Kate, years before Bark About It Rescue was created. Kate drove all the way to Philly to pick him up and bring him home to Pittsburgh. On the drive back, Bubba spent nearly the entire trip sleeping with his head resting in her lap. Bubba was a big, scarred-up pittie who had clearly been through a lot in his life, but he was nothing but gentle, loyal, loving, and forgiving. He was one of those dogs who reminded you just how special rescue dogs are. Bubba was the inspiration behind the creation of our rescue, and it only felt right that he became the face of our organization. We’re so sad to say goodbye, but we’re grateful for the life he got to live and the role he played in helping us get to where we are today. Rest in peace, sweet Bubba. 🩵 Your legacy will live on through every dog we help save. by @barkaboutitrescue
Last year, we traveled to Houston hoping to make a difference. We walked through rows of kennels, met so many incredible dogs, and wished we could take every single one of them home. We couldn’t save them all. But because of YOU, nine dogs got a second chance! This November 11–18, we’re heading back to Houston, and we’re hoping to save even more lives. Every $800 raised helps us rescue another dog, covering the veterinary care, supplies, and transportation needed to get them safely on their way to a new beginning. We don’t know how many dogs we’ll be able to save this time, but we know every single one will be worth it. If you’ve ever wanted to be part of saving a life, this is your chance. Whether you donate $5, $50, or simply share our fundraiser, you’re helping us make another rescue possible. How many lives can we change together this year? 🩵 Donate to our Houston Rescue Mission through the linked fundraiser! #BarkAboutItRescue #HoustonRescueMission #RescueDogs #savealife by @barkaboutitrescue
🩷✨ ADOPT ME: CARMEN ✨🩷 Meet Carmen! Carmen is approximately 1 year old and 31 pounds, and she’s a sweet, curious girl who loves being involved in whatever her people are doing. Whether you’re getting ready for a walk, working around the house, or just relaxing, Carmen is happy to be your little sidekick! Carmen has a really nice balance of puppy playfulness and laid-back energy. She loves going for walks, playing in the yard, and entertaining herself with her toys and bones. She’s also a big fan of head rubs and being close to her favorite people. And according to her foster, she has a funny little habit of collecting socks! 😂 She’s house trained, crate trained, walks beautifully on a leash, rides well in the car, and does great for baths. She’s been friendly with other dogs she’s met and does well out in public. Carmen is generally a quiet girl, although she does have a hilarious habit of barking at her own reflection in windows or the pool. Apparently, it’s one of her favorite games! Carmen enjoys a good walk, with plenty of time to play and relax in between. She’s curious, affectionate, and always ready to lend a helping paw with whatever you’re doing. At just 31 pounds, Carmen is a great size for someone looking for a loving companion who still has a little puppy silliness left in her. Now she just needs a family to call her own. 🥹 Apply to adopt Carmen through link in our bio! ———— Bark About It Rescue is 501c3 foster based rescue in Southwestern PA. KL 18457 by @barkaboutitrescue
Hey Houston community!! We’re getting everyone together on November 15th to celebrate the people who make rescue possible! The fosters, volunteers, transporters, supporters, and everyone in between. Whether you’ve fostered a dog, adopted one, shared a shelter post, volunteered your time or have just been curious about getting involved, we’d love to see you there! We’ll have games, raffles, specialty cocktails for purchase, and lots of good company! 📍 Bungalow Heights | 1919 Beall St. 🗓️ Sunday, November 15 ⏰ 11 AM–2 PM 🐕 Dogs welcome, just keep ‘em leashed! Of course we’d love to raise some money for the dogs, but more than anything, we want to show some love to the people who do SO much for Houston’s shelter dogs. And maybe convince a few more of you to join the chaos while we’re at it 👀 Come hang out, bring a friend, grab a drink, meet some good people, and learn a little more about what we do! Hope to see y’all there! 🫶🐾 by @barkaboutitrescue
💞 ADOPTER OR FOSTER NEEDED: MELANIE 💞 Meet Melanie! Melanie is approximately 3 years old and 46 pounds of pure love, cuddles, and personality! This sweet girl is looking for her forever family OR a new foster home without cats. Melanie’s foster describes her as a little love torpedo, and that might be the most accurate description of this girl! She absolutely adores her people and would happily spend her entire day following you around the house. Personal space? Melanie has never heard of it. She’s all about cuddles, face kisses, and making sure her humans never feel lonely. She’s also quite the foodie! Melanie loves treats of just about any kind, especially fruits like apples, pears, and bananas. She’s not particularly interested in toys because she’d much rather spend her time with you! Melanie is crate trained, house trained, walks beautifully on a leash, and rides great in the car. She has a nice medium energy level and is pretty content with a relaxed daily routine, some walks, and plenty of time snuggling on the couch. She’s been wonderful with children of all ages and has done well meeting most dogs, although she can be selective with certain canine personalities. As with any new dog, slow introductions are important. Melanie is currently in need of a new foster home where there are no cats. We’re also hoping her forever family might be out there reading this! She’s such an affectionate, people-oriented girl who has so much love to give, and we’d love to find her a home where she can settle in and get all the attention she deserves. Whether you’re interested in fostering or adopting, Melanie would love to meet you! 🥹 Apply to foster or adopt Melanie at https://linktr.ee/barkaboutit ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Bark About It Rescue is 501c3 foster based rescue in Southwestern PA.
