I was absolutely delighted to be included in the @indo.ie_travel #indofab50 list this weekend. It showcases such a variety of new and innovative hospitality options around Ireland.

When I announced to my friends and family that I was planning to open a B&B a few years ago, some of them recoiled at the memory of flowery carpets and frilly curtains from childhood holidays!

So I was delighted to welcome @poloconghaile to chat about the future of contemporary B&Bs in modern Ireland. Certainly a lovely aesthetic helps but it’s the authentic warm welcome, local knowledge and love of place that really sets the visitor experience apart.

I really believe in the potential of the rural B&B to regenerate communities, economies and the environment and I was so heartened to read that the ‘B&B bounce back’ is a trend emerging all across Ireland in #indofab50

Luckily we live in the best place in Ireland! Mitchelstown’s vibrant market town energy, set against the backdrop of the Galtee mountains, with our distinctive Georgian architecture, award-winning food producers and gateway to the @ballyhouracountry adventure playground - it’s hard not to be glowing with pride about a place like this 💚

A huge thanks to everyone who turned out today for our sell-out Junior Farmers Market.

From bee keepers and bakers to fresh veg, locally grown flowers, free range eggs and the sweetest honey for miles around: our shoppers were spoiled for choice on this beautiful autumn day and there wasn’t a thing left by lunchtime.

Our stallholders were so well prepared and several took a few tips from market regular Farmer Michelle from @openhearthfarm on how to maximise sales and profit in the future!

Big thanks to our own Amy Rose who helped organise today’s market and to Lucy who kept the teas and coffees flowing.

Our Junior Farmers Market officially marks the end of Season 1 of The Edible Town - a project by @mitchelstowntidytowns to get the whole community growing together.

Today’s event was held in support of @childlinebyispcc and we were delighted to present €155 in donations to Aoife Drake.

Finally made it to @barnahown in Mitchelstown 🙌🏻 I’ve been dying to see inside for so long, and it did not disappoint. The interiors were phenomenal and the service was top class.

And what better way to experience it than with brunch made by @delaliciousfood ? I’ve had her cookbook for years, so this was such a treat. The food was 10/10!

I love how @barnahown make the most of their beautiful space with such fab events. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for more. Myself and @xvbridies had the best morning and lovely to catch up with an old neighbour @eibhlinobrien ✨

We are so excited to welcome @chefjackokeeffe and @thevillagetablebyjack to @barnahown this autumn for a cosy, Italian style harvest feast supper.

Many people know Jack from TV but what people may not realise is that he’s a very proud North Cork man and growing up in Doneraile he was inspired by the farmers, producers and growers he saw all around him in the Golden Vale to follow a career in food and hospitality.

And like several of us locally, after many years learning the ropes all over the world, he’s now chosen to return home with his young family to where it all began.

I have never met anyone as quick to agree to a party concept! And Jack is certainly a big part of the inspiration for @goldenvaletable - great food, celebrated well and enjoyed in the heart of the land that produced it.

Tickets are now on sale for our event on Saturday 14th November. Starting at 7pm. As usual, BYO preferred drinks and as Jack always says: come hungry! Pop-up link in bio.

We’ve been so delighted to support the @mitchelstowntidytowns Edible Town project in conjunction with @openhearthfarm for 2026 and we’re ending the season on a high!

💛 As part of @goldenvaletable series we’re bringing together some of the region’s most inspiring primary school pupils to share their 2025 autumn harvest treats

🥕 We hope you will join us next Sunday 18th Oct for our first Junior Farmers’ Market in @barnahown courtyard, showcasing vegetable growers, honey farmers, hen keepers and bakers from across our local neighbourhoods in @ballyhouracountry

💜 Our event will be held in partnership with @childlinebyispcc and all donations will be gratefully received on the day

🍰 You may also spot @pralinemitchelstown next top pastry chef among our carefully chosen stallholders

🛍️ We will welcome guests from 10am until midday and we will be offering free teas and coffees for the first 30 market shoppers.

My BTS shoots also always include some black & white images which I find particularly expressive. Yeah, I am a negative B&W film and darkroom guy… the love of the medium has never faded. by @barnahown

At @barnahown we believe that people make the place and great food makes the celebration.

So what a privilege to welcome Mitchelstown lady @ciarakenneally6 for her first local pop-up ‘Homecoming’ last weekend in @thestudiobarnahown

Ciara Kenneally’s magic formula combines incredible local suppliers with some serious kitchen skills and a charm the Mitchelstown hospitality community is famous for: we realised she’d brought an army of her chef friends along so she could spend the weekend chatting to diners!

Such a special and unique talent, we’re already planning Ciara’s return in 2027. There are big things ahead for this lady. We can’t wait for her to sprinkle some more magic dust on @barnahown and Mitchelstown.

With thanks to @lorenzo.tonti.photo for capturing the action so beautifully: like a kitchen ninja he weaves around an incredible evening without anyone spotting he’s been there until these amazing shots appear.

We were delighted to see our recent pollinator-friendly mowing event at the Barnahown pilot site featured on the #PolliConnect project website.

The event included a practical demonstration showing how small changes to the management of grassland and public green spaces can create more valuable habitats for pollinators.

Participants learned about biodiversity-friendly mowing techniques, the equipment required and practical ways these approaches can be introduced in parks, community green areas and other public spaces.

The event was a great opportunity to share practical knowledge and explore how changes in local land management can support pollinators, biodiversity and more resilient communities.

What a weekend for a Harvest Moon celebration in @ballyhouracountry

We harvested kitchen gardens, we huddled around kitchen tables, we gathered in the forest and we danced in the moonlight.

For months our little teams in @ballyhourafarmescape @eightdegreesbrewing @bibliocook @galtyvalleycatering @barnahown @chefjackokeeffe @thevillagetablebyjack have been planning a series of events to showcase our wonderful local producers and our special local communities and here are just the first few!

We were honoured to be joined by local food royalty including butcher John Finn and Michael Horgan @horgansdeli

With huge thanks to @tommie550 and @lorenzo.tonti.photo who know how to capture the magic of great events - lots more to follow 📸

And a special shout out to @kildorrery_festival who struck the match that lit the fire of this programme.
