In celebration of Columbus Day/Indigenous Peoples Day... Behold my Existential Pigeon #wip . Apparently the name Columbus refers to one who is a pigeon keeper. See my story for an explanation or not... but revel in this "tiny little trash flamingo" !

Holding back the entropy.

This is going to become something, and I'm pretty sure it is going to be fantastic, but first I gotta go clean out my rain gutters for the umpteenth time.

Mosquito

Kills more humans every year than any other creature - even other humans. I found this one lurking in the tea stained splotches of my journal this morning.

I've been drinking my coffee out of Susie Ketchum mugs for 30 years. Mine have definitely seen better days at this point but they still remain my favorites. The recently broken one in the second image was my absolute favorite and dates from 1996. If you knew me then you may well have been gifted her work and if so I do hope it brought you as much joy as I have gotten from mine. Yesterday I got to see some of her newer work @laluzdejesus where she currently has a show up of masks. Scroll to see. It's quite awesome. Go check it out irl if you are in Los Angeles. First 2 images are my aged mugs. Other images are from the current show.

Feeling dark today, contemplating the corrupt supreme court, the rise of autocracy, the unparalleled corruption and self-dealing we are living through. Feel both powerless and like I want to break things.

So here is something beautiful born out of destroying something beautiful. (Not made by me.) Went to see David Daigle's Show "The Death of Beauty" at Track 16 gallery on Sunday and sit in on his art talk. Been digesting what I saw and heard over the past few days, still thinking...

All photos are details from "The Death of Venus" work reworking Botticelli's piece by David Daigle.
