A few days ago I told you that on Sunday something very exciting is going to happen and here it is. I’d like you to meet Noah – a wonderful dog that I’ve adopted from the shelter. Noah is around 12 years old (more or less, may be 10, may be 11). Probably he had a home in the past but then something very bad had happened to him. Hard to say exactly what that was but when he came to the shelter he was afraid of its own shadow, with pellets in its body, But he didn’t lost faith in people. Still he was a big, old, black dog and that is a mix that’s make the adoption almost impossible. But when I saw him, I fell in love with him almost instantly. He’s a dream dog to me. I don’t know how much time we’ll have together but what I do know is that the time we are going to spent together will be priceless.

Noah and us would also line to thank @grupa7schroniskonapaluchu for all the gifts he received (an orthopedic bed, a harness, an autumn outfit and a large plush toy). You're wonderful 🥰

To pies moich marzeń.

Many of you may have already known about @gardenmclasspl gardening podcast (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tl3iB1F9pGo) that I had a pleasure of being a guest of some time ago but thankfully there are still new people coming that want to follow me, so here's a little reminder 😊 It was recorded in Polish but you can easily translate it automatically into English (unfortunately only using a laptop, not a phone) but now you can also watch a teaser with English subtitles added.

In the podcast I was talking about my garden and – among others – its evolution from a dream of having a truly English garden to a rather wild one in reality, being a fan of meadows, how to attract wildlife to the garden and the benefits of gardening and being in nature to our mental health. As the spring has finally come, I hope it will help you a bit to create your own private wildlife garden, wherever you live.

The podcast was hosted by Magdalena Wdowiak (@madzikowo_27).

A little fun fact about me as a bonus – Mszyca in English means aphid (greenfly or blackfly). I find it very funny to have such a surname and be a gardener myself 😊

Ponieważ wreszcie mamy wiosnę, więc mam nadzieję, że to, o czym opowiadam, pomoże Wam stworzyć własny, prywatny ogród przyjazny dzikiej przyrodzie, gdziekolwiek mieszkacie.

Gospodynią podcastu była Magdalena Wdowiak (@madzikowo_27).

The colours of the leaves are stunning but walking around all those beautiful places in the last few weeks, I can’t stop thinking about one upsetting fact – it may be one of the very last such a wonderful autumn shows that we can see here. There is more and more scientific data warning about the global impact of this year’s El Nino and there’s a very big chance that our planet will cross some tipping points resulting in some fundamental weather pattern changes that cannot be reversed.

This lovely autumn was possible due to a few weeks of stable weather with cold nights but without a strong wind (in fact in recent weeks it was a bit windy just once here). But just 2 years ago we had a preview of what can happen soon. In August almost everything was already brown. And it was not that kind of pleasant autumn brown but rather deadly brown. Most of deciduous trees started getting rid of leaves due to the heat and drought stress. And in September the strong winds arrived. Autumn colours were gone before they arrived.

So on one hand I feel gratitude that I can still witness that wonderful show. But on the other one I feel sadness and anger (or even fury) towards humankind that we are destroying something so incredible like our planet. We are an exceptionally stupid species, indeed…

The best proof that sometimes a real gem can be hidden almost in a plain sight - this area is located in the next village, just behind the road that I'm driving almost every day 😊

What can I say... I'm really doing my best to make him sleep inside 🤷

Cóż mogę powiedzieć... Naprawdę robię wszystko, co w mojej mocy, żeby zachęcić go do spania w domu 🤷

Today I’d like to show you another nature reserve in our area – Oborska Slope. It is very narrow but stretches for a length of 2.5 kilometers and covers an area of 15.65 hectares (nearly 39 acres), near the village of Obory. It was established in 1981. It protects multi-species deciduous forests and the landscape of the Vistula glacial valley escarpment.

The forest stand consists primarily of pedunculate oak, European white elm, Norway maple, small-leaved lime and aspen. There are foxes, badgers, roe deers, wild boars, brown hares, green woodpeckers, great spotted woodpeckers, common buzzards, robins and European tree frogs living there.

Access is prohibited across most of the reserve, but a 350-meter section of the blue hiking trail connecting Zalesie Górne and Kabaty runs through it, offering a chance to admire this beautiful place.

Utworzono go w 1981 roku. Chroni on wielogatunkowe lasy liściaste oraz krajobraz skarpy pradoliny Wisły.

Drzewostan tworzą przede wszystkim dąb szypułkowy, wiąz szypułkowy, klon zwyczajny, lipa drobnolistna oraz osika. Występują tu m.in. lis, borsuk, sarna, dzik, zając szarak, dzięcioł zielony, dzięcioł duży, myszołów zwyczajny, rudzik oraz rzekotka drzewna.

It had been finally raining yesterday for most of the day but Noah definitely wasn't happy about that 😅
