Success Story: Bart

Some dogs come into your life quietly. Others arrive exactly when they’re meant to. Bart was the second kind.

After weeks of stopping into Doggie Style Pets in Fishtown and falling for a dog they weren’t quite ready to bring home, a snowstorm changed everything. A call went out for emergency fosters, and Lily and Carly stepped up. The dog they once loved had already been adopted, but while scrolling through available pups, they saw Bart.

Something clicked instantly.

Bart came home as a weekend foster. Full of energy at pickup, he melted the moment he walked through the door, curling up in their arms like he’d always belonged there. That weekend turned into real conversations, big feelings, and ultimately, a forever decision.

What started as a temporary foster during a snowstorm became Bart’s forever family.

Bart’s story is proof that sometimes forever doesn’t happen when you plan it. Sometimes it shows up through an open door, a last-minute yes, and a leap of faith.

Special thank you to Bart’s moms for sharing his story and continuing to advocate for shelter and rescue dogs. Follow Bart’s journey @bartphillydog & on TikTok.
