Her Orchid Garden 🌺

I was recently commissioned by the talented @tanweichi to help her create a truly special birthday gift for her mum - a book designed and made by herself! Wei Chi put so much love and thought into every single detail. I had a blast guiding her through the entire process, from selecting the perfect materials and binding to pre-press and final production, and I couldn’t be prouder of her and the final results! The book in the first three photos was made entirely by herself 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
.
Even though I’ve never met her mum (who is a true orchid expert!), stepping into her world through these pages was magical. Wei Chi’s dedication to honoring her mum’s passion made this project extra special. Her mum’s love for orchids shines through every single page! 🥹✨ taken in Singapore / Singapura / 新加坡 / சிங்கப்பூர் by @basedbookarts

Co. Duxton welcomed @basedbookarts for an intimate bookbinding workshop where participants explored the history and technique behind the French link stitch. Over two hours, they crafted their own non-adhesive, exposed-spine journals leaving with a functional handmade piece and a new appreciation for the patience and beauty of traditional craft.

Missed this session? Based Book Arts will be back at Co. Duxton on 21 September, 8 October & 21 October. Sign up via the link in our bio and join us for the next session!
