SO HONORED that my newest work, "Black When I'm Blue (Part 1), a two-channel, Afro-futuristic installation (music composed and performed by @paulmagliari; re-recorded and mixed by @digitalsweetsent) will screen as part of the @pictorialfoundation's inaugural film festival on Sat., Aug. 8th & Sun., Aug. 9th. I will be out of town but please swing by and support this amazing creative space, artists and filmmakers!

Hey Folks! The 11th @peekskillfilmfest is ON (Fri., July 24th to Sat., July 25th)! AND my short film, "Blueprint For My People" will screen on Opening Night! As a photographer and an independent filmmaker, Carol Bash’s work is inspired by bold patterns, powerful monuments and the beauty of the natural world. Her art practice also explores themes centered on African American identity, history and culture, in which she often utilizes archival materials to re-center people of African descent into narratives about the future and liberation.

“Black When I’m Blue 2” is a re-imagining of Black women’s power within the universe. The intent behind the work is to place an archival cyanotype of an African American woman within a context outside of the actual time and place in which the photograph was created.

BLUEPRINT FOR MY PEOPLE IN CHICAGO THIS WEEKEND! I am THRILLED that the African Diaspora Film Festival (ADFF) returns to its Chicago home at FACETS (1517 W Fullerton Ave) for its 23rd annual edition, taking place JUNE 5-7 2026.

Presented in collaboration with FACETS and the DuSable Heritage Association, the festival features 14 films from across Africa, the Americas, and Europe, including multiple Chicago premieres.

This year’s program highlights stories of resilience, cultural memory, and music through a curated selection of narratives and documentaries.
