🌧️ Rain fell over parts of the northern end of Moreton Bay region & Sunshine Coast this afternoon, along with a brief thunderstorm - did you get any rain your way?

This plant is Brazillian Spinach. A low growing, edible perennial ground cover, that is very easy to grow just from cutting, or even better a piece with a bit of root attached.

It tolerates full-sun, shade or container and a versatile green to use raw in salads, and cooked through stir-fries and delish sliced up added to omelettes! 🌿

Next time you spot this green in a garden, ask for a piece to take home :-)

@leesaslittlefarm asked me last week: “Do you get to work in your own garden much?”
Truth is, I blur the line between Basilea and my personal garden; because if I didn’t, I wouldn’t be able to do it all!
When it comes to work-life balance, I prefer to call it the “swinging pendulum.” I often feel like I’m swinging from one focus to another, and the personal gardening isn’t always top priority. Luckily my husband is all over the mowing 😘 and
I’m so grateful today for this public holiday Monday to get stuck into my own garden.
What are you getting stuck into today?

🌿 How often do you walk past your fragrant herbs, without realising they could be the secret ingredient in your next meal ? 🍽️

I was asked last week why I don’t post more informational videos. The truth? I’m usually too busy actually doing the work to set up a camera, and really, I’d rather hand-pull bindi weed than spend my evenings editing video and thinking about the algorithms.

So here you go: fresh off deliveries, spotting a few cheeky strawberries to pick while I close the gate and catching a quick, hands-on herb lesson. Unedited, completely real, and with the delivery van still idling in the driveway 🤦‍♀️ (and with diesel pushing $3 a litre, you know I’m moving fast!) straight back to it.

More and more people are discovering this little gem — buying your food straight from the farm it was grown on 🌱

And honestly… it doesn’t get much fresher

Produce that hasn’t been sitting in cool rooms for weeks, travelling hundreds of kilometres on a truck, then waiting on a supermarket shelf.

Seasonal produce grown and harvested on this farm & farms nearby ~ sold straight from Farm-Gate to you, inc Basilea Farm ;-)

And probably one of the best bits? Your money goes straight back to the farmer who grew your food 🤝🧑🏾‍🌾

🌿 Elderflower
— Sunday morning check
My daughter and I were out doing our morning check and noticed just how much elderflower had grown! 🌱💚 It was definitely ready for a little tidy-up and some attention as had blocked the flow of water 💦
There are certainly plants that thrive in hydroponic systems and others better to leave out — but that’s all part of the fun of growing! 🌿💧 When you’re growing, you learn to keep a close eye on it, adapt and enjoy the process.... Every day is a school day in the garden 🌱✨ :-D
