I’ve played with the idea of transparency the last few months. So much has changed but with that comes the need to own some things for myself. Hold those same things up to the light so I can examine them without input or outside voices. Ive only allowed myself to feel just enough to write about it and offer it to others.

Been quiet for a minute because anxiety has made everything difficult. Trying to do this without meds has been challenging. I have them for when it gets unbearable and physically impossible to exist. That’s been the last week or so. EMDR taught me how to walk through with these discomforts and stay there. In the past, I’ve learned unhealthy ways to stop it before the worst of it. I’m learning now that my skin crawls, I forget to breathe and swallow, my body tries to eat itself and becomes a dry, full body heaves, the intrusive thoughts break barriers and become permanent guests.

I can define and identify but sometimes I wish the healing felt more like ignorance.
There’s a lot to share but there are books for that. Right now, I’m learning to continue doing the work and doing my best.

That’s all I got.
No poetry.
No prose.
It’s kicking my ass.

It’s the worst kind of heartbreak but at the end of each day, when I’m fighting my brain for permission to sleep, I ask myself, “WHAT IS IT, THE BRAIDS?”

Shout out to Kendrick Lamar for giving my brain some other things to hold on to. “Beat your ass and hide the Bible if God’s watching”.

Anyway, here’s my face from this morning.

Told myself I’d post more of myself out doing things this year. Last night, I had the pleasure of talking to @youngsinick about his fantastic new book, “I Finally Bought Some Jordans”.

He’s one of my favorite people and writers and I am so proud of how he’s showing up for himself. His book is available everywhere books are sold. Click the link in my bio.
