It was a very special launch on Friday night at the Buried Village in Te Wairoa for Sarah Ell’s extraordinary historical novel, A SKY FULL OF FIRE. The novel is set in 1886 and features a colourful cast of characters and plenty of strange and disturbing goings-on. For any who know their New Zealand history, there is also a sense of foreboding over the whole book, as the inevitable Tarawera eruption draws near. That tragic event, which killed 120 people and resulted in the destruction of the Pink and White Terraces, the Eighth Wonder of the World, is still NZ’s most violent and deadly volcanic eruption. Congratulations, Sarah, on writing such a brilliant novel!
