The camera caught it. The microphone didn’t. We don’t restore cars. We resurrect legends. The electric BMW 2002. Built by hand in Munich. Happy Halloween. #BavarianEcons #BMW2002 #2002te #ElectricClassic #Restomod by @bavarian.econs
Before it became a classic, the 2002 was the BMW you drove to work. This one is a 1972 in Golf Yellow. Original paint, unassisted steering, no screens. Under the hood, 33 kWh where the M10 used to be. Plug it in at night. Drive it in the morning. Would you drive a classic every day? 📸 @maximilian_vogl #BavarianEcons #BMW2002 #2002te #ElectricClassic #Restomod #Munich by @bavarian.econs
Three dials. Only one of them is still doing the job BMW gave it. The fuel gauge became state of charge. The rev counter became a power meter, and past zero it reads charge in kW, because the same needle swings the other way when the car is sending energy back to the battery. The speedometer in the middle is untouched. Still in km. We did not replace the instruments. We redrew them on the original dials, so they look like they were always there. There is no screen in this car. Nothing glued to the dash, nothing to update, nothing that will look old in five years. The windows still roll down by hand. The battery is the easy part. The work is in the 500 hours that go into making sure you cannot tell where the old car ends and the new one begins. 2002te. No exhaust pipe. No compromise. BMW E30 Touring — electrified in Munich. 50 units. Reservations open. #BavarianEcons #BMWE30 #E30Touring #ElectricClassic #EVConversion BMWClassic Restomod HandcraftedInMunich ElectricBMW ClassicCar by @bavarian.econs
It qualifies. Munich plates — M for München, E for Elektro — in an EV bay on the California coast. Plugged into a public charger, then driven home the same day. That was always the point. A classic you only take out twice a year isn't really yours; it belongs to a museum. This one charges anywhere, and drives on a Tuesday. Hand-built in Munich. Over 500 hours per car. The soul stays analog. The classic of the future has been around for years. 📸 @stephan_bauer #BavarianEcons #2002te #ECON2002te #BMW2002 #BMWClassics #bmwclassic #freudeamfahren #EV #MontereyCarWeek by @bavarian.econs
One icon. Every configuration. The BMW 2002 wore all of these in the ‘70s. We brought them back — rebuilt by hand in Munich, made to drive every day. Your color, your configuration. No two Econs are alike. The electric revolution doesn’t need new icons. It needs the ones that already earned their place. BMW E30 Touring — Electrified. Same lines. Same presence. New heartbeat. 7 colors.
