Two older adults have died following a devastating two-alarm house fire in Monte Sereno early Wednesday morning, October 7, 2026. According to the Santa Clara County Fire Department, firefighters were dispatched at approximately 2:04 a.m. to a reported structure fire at a two-story residence in the 17000 block of Rose Court, near Rose Drive. Crews arrived within minutes and encountered heavy fire, with flames already burning through the roof of the home. Firefighters reportedly faced difficult access to the residence because of obstructions, prompting the incident to be upgraded to a second alarm, ultimately bringing approximately 40 firefighters and 10 fire apparatus to the scene. Despite the dangerous conditions, crews entered the burning home and conducted a rapid search, locating two older adults trapped inside. Both victims were rescued and transported by ambulance to nearby hospitals but they unfortunately later succumbed from their injuries. Firefighters reported the main body of the fire knocked down at approximately 2:33 a.m. The victims’ identities have not yet been publicly released. The cause and origin of the deadly blaze remain under investigation by the Santa Clara County Fire Department and the Santa Clara County Fire Investigation Taskforce. Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fire as the Monte Sereno community mourns the loss of two residents.

A video circulating involving a manager at Normandy House Lounge shows an interaction with a paying customer that includes language many may find deeply offensive and antisemitic. People in the community deserve to know how customers are treated and should be able to decide for themselves where they choose to spend their money.
@normandyhousebar @thirsty.bar.sc
Those who are disturbed by what they see and hear in this video may want to consider supporting other local establishments instead of Normandy House Lounge, Thirsty Bar, and Sir Froggy’s Pub. (All under same ownership.) There are plenty of local businesses that value their customers and work to create welcoming environments for everyone. Watch the video. Listen to what is said. Make your own decision about who deserves your support. No customer should have to experience hateful or discriminatory language while patronizing a business. by @bay_bite

A 37-year-old Morgan Hill man, identified by police as Roy Anthony Lopez, was arrested on suspicion of murder after allegedly killing his wife and then bringing her to Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose. According to Morgan Hill police, Lopez arrived at the hospital at approximately 9:20 a.m. on Saturday, October 3, and told authorities that he had killed his wife. First responders found the woman unresponsive inside a vehicle parked at the hospital and attempted emergency medical treatment, but she was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators believe the killing occurred earlier at a residence in the 1100 block of Vintage Lane in Morgan Hill. During a protective sweep of the home, officers found three children, ages 3, 6, and 14, who were safely removed and later placed in the custody of Santa Clara County’s Department of Family and Children’s Services. Lopez was detained without incident at the hospital, transferred to Morgan Hill police for questioning, and later booked into the Santa Clara County Jail on suspicion of murder. Authorities have not publicly released the victim’s identity, cause of death, or a possible motive as the investigation continues. taken in San Jose, California by @bay_bite

Channel408 gets asked a lot why add the 408? Well it’s because I started it off growing this page in the South Bay with the area code being 408.. then as time went I covered other areas like 510,209,669,610, (other Bay Area cities ) but it got me thinkin that since a lot of my focus is in the South Bay especially in my city of SAN JOSE ! Then why change the 408.. it’s what keeps me set apart from other guys . While however in the San Jose area I have made really great friends with other pages and we all help each other . So if you guys could help me by following and supporting these pages as well I’d appreciate that

San Jose Police, stormed into an AMC Movie Theatre 🎭 at AMC Saratoga 14 with guns drawn pointing towards the back row . Two men were ordered to step down with their hands up and which they later did .( not shown ) . PD spoke with both men briefly before letting them go according to witnesses. It is believed that San Jose Police were on the lookout for a possible armed or violent suspect , and had believed those two men were the suspect/s . We want to formally remind everyone that that during an high intensity situation like this , please comply with officers commands . If you feel like you are being unlawfully detained properly follow their commands till it’s safe for you to safely advocate for yourself. Channel408 is glad no one was hurt during this mistaken ordeal but we also want to ensure that police officers do act with the highest level of discipline during these high intense calls to prevent incidents. by @bay_bite
