‘Still I Thrive’ is a series of ink on paper drawings that I made at some point in 2025. I really enjoyed that time working without color and without promise. I made them. Now looking at them I see that I was setting up a premise by which to make new paintings and sculptures.

At @villanavarra.lemuy water, mountains, architecture, communication, and a trailing smoke signal or two are inherently part that space. It baffles and amazes me that I was able to create ‘Ring the Cookhouse Bell’
and show it there, with so much in common between the work that I made and the space it was given.

What started as a minor translational misunderstanding turned into a drawing. The drawing had me make the sculpture. The sculpture was put into a basket and lowered down to the bottom of a swimming pool where it is viewed through a window in a basement.

Today marks the official opening of my new show RING THE COOKHOUSE BELL at @villanavarra.lemuy in Le Muy, France.

This show is uniquely significant to me. This past May I spent 3 weeks, making new paintings, installing finished works from my studio, fabricating site specific installation, and figuring out exactly how to install sculpture 12 feet down in a swimming pool. All of which made possible by incredible support from @dorianonavarra his team.

I’ll be sharing more but today here is the title painting from this show.
