Calling all professional musicians and experienced practitioners ✨

We’re thrilled to announce a new live instrumental music residency in collaboration with Egyptian musician and composer Hazem Chahine.

The residency will take place in Beirut from the 30th of November to the 6th of December 2026.

Over the course of one intensive week, six selected musicians will work closely with Hazem Chahine through a combination of masterclasses, ensemble work, score reading, listening, improvisation, composition, and arrangement.

The residency will explore the relationship between individual musical practice and collective creation, bringing together musicians from diverse backgrounds to develop new material and approaches to ensemble playing.

Selected participants will have the opportunity to present their individual work as well as material developed collectively during the residency with Hazem Chahine at BBIMF 2026.

يسرّنا الإعلان عن إقامة جديدة للموسيقى الحيّة الآليّة بالتعاون معالموسيقي والملحّن المصري حازم شاهين.

ستُقام الإقامة في بيروت من ٣٠ نوفمبر إلى ٦ ديسمبر ٢٠٢٦. وعلى مدى أسبوع مكثّف، سيعمل ستة موسيقيين مختارين عن كثب مع حازم شاهين، من خلال مزيج من الصفوف المتقدمة، والعمل الجماعي، وقراءة النوتات الموسيقية، والاستماع، والارتجال، والتأليف، والتوزيع.

ستكتشف الإقامة العلاقة بين الممارسة الموسيقية الفردية والإبداعالجماعي، حيث تجمع موسيقيين من خلفيات متنوعة لتطوير مواد وأساليب جديدة للعزف ضمن فرقة.

و سيحظى المشاركون المختارون بفرصة تقديم أعمالهم الفردية، إلى جانب المواد التي طُوّرت بشكل جماعي خلال فترة الإقامة مع حازم شاهين، وذلك ضمن مهرجان بيروت اند بيوند الدولي للموسيقى ٢٠٢٦.

The MSP03 artistic residency continues with Gatto, a six-piece shaabi fusion band bringing together Middle Eastern shaabi and dabkeh with rock, blues, and Balkan influences.
Hosted at Stereo Kawalis, the residency gave the band the time and space to experiment, develop new ideas and continue shaping their sound.

Known for their high-energy, rhythm-driven performances, Gatto brings live experiences to the stage through music that is loud, gritty, and full of energy, while exploring new ways to place shaabi in a contemporary, cross-genre context.

As part of the Musicians Support Program, this residency is a chance for the band to step into the studio, experiment and see where the music takes them.

تتكوّن فرقة غاتو من ستة موسيقيين، وقد برزت من المشهد الموسيقي البديل لتجمع بين تأثيرات الموسيقى الشعبية والدبكة في ، وموسيقى الروك والبلوز والبلقان.

تتميّز الفرقة بأدائها الحيّ الحيوي والقائم على الإيقاع، حيث تقدّم موسيق صاخبة وخشنة ومليئة بالطاقة، فيما تستكشف أساليب جديدة للموسيقى الشعبية, ضمن سياق معاصر ومتعدّد الأنماط.

خلال إقامتهم الفنية ضمن النسخة الثالثة من برنامج الدعم للموسيقيين. في ستريو كواليس، حظيت الفرقة بالوقت والمساحة اللازمين للتجريب، وتطوير أفكار جديدة، ومواصلة صياغة هويتها الموسيقية بشكل جماعي.

Over five days, our selected musicians took part in a series of workshops and masterclasses led by music professionals and artists.

Fadi Tabbal, Maggie Doueihi, Blu Fiefer, Amani Semaan, Majd El-Baba, Alex Davidson, Etyen, Yazan Nabulsi, Jad Atoui, Julia Sabra, and Firas Abou Fakher shared their knowledge, experience, and perspectives on topics ranging from artist management and career strategy to music marketing, live shows, booking and touring, distribution, royalties, and artistic practice.

Formed in 2024, Bliss emerged from Lebanon’s underground alternative scene, bringing together dreamy guitars, soft melodies, and the heaviness of drums.

Blending shoegaze, indie, and alternative influences, the trio: Julie Abou Kasm on bass and vocals, Rebal Abu Fadel on guitar, and Andrew Kareh on drums, have been shaping a sound that feels both dreamy and heavy.

Emerging from years of crisis, collapse, and silence, Bliss brings a sense of energy and escape to a generation that grew up with both the beauty and the ruin of Beirut.

During their MSP03 artistic residency, the band had the time and space to experiment, develop new ideas, and continue shaping their sound together.

تأسست فرقة بليس عام ٢٠٢٤، وبرزت من مشهد الموسيقى البديلة في لبنان، لتجمع بين نغمات الجيتار الحالمة، والألحان الهادئة، وقوة إيقاع الطبول.

تمزج الفرقة بين تأثيرات موسيقى الشوغيْز، الموسيقى المستقلة والموسيقى البديلة. ويعمل أعضاء الفرقة، جولي أبو قاسم على الباس والغناء، وريبال أبو فاضل على الغيتار، وأندرو كاره على الطبول، على صياغة صوت يجمع بين الحلم والقوة الموسيقية المكثفة، في آنٍ واحد.

بعد سنواتٍ من الأزمات والانهيار والصمت، تأتي بليس بطاقةٍ وشعورٍ بالتحرّر والهروب الإيجابي لجيلٍ نشأ وسط ما تحمله بيروت من جمال ودمار في آنٍ واحد.

En libanesisk legende åpner Oslo World 💚

I over seks tiår har oud-spilleren, sangeren og komponisten Marcel Khalife rørt publikum over hele den arabiske verden.

Sentralt i musikken hans står poesien til den palestinske poeten Mahmoud Darwish. Khalifes tonesettinger av diktene hans om tap, kjærlighet og hjemland har blitt en felles sangskatt for generasjoner av lyttere 🕊️

I år er det 50 år siden klassikeren Promises of the Storm. På Oslo Worlds åpningsfest på Chateau Neuf får vi oppleve Khalife alene med stemmen og ouden, før kvelden glir over i fest med Sami Galbi på Betong 🔥 by @bbimf

Michel Maouad spent time exploring new ideas and developing his musical practice during his MSP03 artistic residency.

A singer-songwriter from Mount Lebanon, Michel draws from Americana and Midwestern influences, creating music that reflects on identity, the quiet patterns of everyday life, and the uncertainties that come with growing older.

Following the release of his first solo album, Good Thing We Cleaned The Stairs, in December 2025, the residency gave Michel dedicated time and space to experiment, reflect, and continue shaping his sound.

خلال النسخة الثالثة من برنامج الدعم للموسيقيين، خصّص ميشال معوّض وقتًا لاستكشاف أفكار جديدة وتطوير ممارسته الموسيقية.

ميشال، مغني وكاتب أغاني من جبل لبنان، يستمد إلهامه من موسيقى أمريكانا وتأثيرات منطقة الغرب الأوسط الأميركي، ليقدّم موسيقى تتأمل في الهوية، وتفاصيل الحياة اليومية، ومشاعر عدم اليقين التي ترافق التقدّم في العمر.

بعد إصدار ألبومه المنفرد الأول، “Good Thing We Cleaned The Stairs”, في شهر ديسمبر الماضي، أتاحت له الإقامة مساحة ووقتًا مخصّصين للتجريب والتأمل ومواصلة صياغة هويته الموسيقية.

During her MSP03 artistic residency, Pol spent time exploring her sound and developing new ideas around her music.

A Beirut-based singer-songwriter and voice teacher, Pol blends indie and pop influences with vocal harmonies, loops, and layered textures to create dreamy, atmospheric sounds that reflect her honest and personal lyrics.

The residency gave her dedicated time and space to continue working on her full-length album and explore the Arabic language in her songwriting, following the release of her first Arabic single, “Ken Helme.”

خصصت بول وقتاً لاستكشاف عالمها الصوتي وتطوير أفكار موسيقية جديدة, خلال النسخة الثالثة من برنامج الدعم للموسيقيين.

بول مغنية ومؤلفة ومدربة صوت مقيمة في بيروت, تجمع بين تأثيرات موسيقى “الإندي” والـ “بوب”، تمزج بين تأثيرات موسيقى “الإندي” والـ “بوب” وبين التناغمات الصوتية وحلقات التكرار الموسيقية والأنسجة الصوتية المتراكبة، لتخلق أصواتاً حالمة تتناغم ببراعة مع كلماتها الصادقة وذات الطابع الشخصي.

لقد أتاحت هذه الإقامة الفنية الوقت والمساحة المطلوبة لها لتطوير ألبومها واستكشاف استخدام اللغة العربية في مؤلفاتها الموسيقية، وذلك, مع إصدار أغنيتها الأولى باللغة العربية “كان حلمي”.

During their MSP03 artistic residency, Alsilk explored new ways of blending voice, strings, and electronics into an immersive sonic experience.

Alsilk is an electro-acoustic duo formed by Romy Melhem and Khaled Omran, bringing together lyrics and vocals, violin, double bass, and electronic sounds to create cross-genre music that reflects on human and urban transformation.
The residency gave the duo time and space to experiment, develop new ideas, and further shape their musical language, drawing from their diverse artistic practices across music, theatre, dance, and performance.

Forged in the static between Lebanon’s rural silence and Beirut’s noisy concrete, HADI’s work explores tension as a space between control and chaos.

His sound is built around heavy atmospheric pressure and cold, unyielding grooves, using the voice as a rhythmic instrument to create a sharp and controlled sense of catharsis.

Through projects such as Al Sadd 8 and Al Fam Wal Fakkayn («الفم والفكين»), HADI brings music and visual elements together as one cohesive system, stripping everything back to expose the raw mechanics beneath.

During his MSP03 artistic residency, HADI had the time and space to experiment, develop new ideas, and continue shaping his musical language.

بين سكون الريف وصخب المدينة، تتشكل أعمال هادي وتستكشف التوتر كمساحة بين السيطرة والفوضى.

صوته يقوم على إيقاعات صارمة، فيستخدم الحنجرة كأداة إيقاعية ليصو إحساسًا محدّدًا ومتحكّمًا من التفريغ العاطفي.

من خلال مشاريع مثل «السد ٨» و«الفم والفكين»، يجمع هادي بين الموسيقى والعناصر البصرية كنظام موحّد، ويختزل كل شيء ليكشف الآليات الخام الكامنة تحته.
