After 4 months of deliberation, 26 coffee dates, 18 egg heavy breakfasts and what can only be described as elite level procrastination… Bren and Hitman have finally released the 2026 BCC Winter Series dates 😄

We’re aiming for 7 races out of the 11 possible weekends, with race selections based on:
🌊 Optimal conditions
🏉 Sporting events
☕ General paddler negotiations

Specific race details will be confirmed closer to the time.

💰 Entry Fees:
R250 Series Entry or R50 Per Race

🏆 Overall standings will be based on a minimum of 3 races. (Race Directors discretion applies… which sounds official enough.)

Get these dates into your calendars now. Winter is coming, and so are the excuses for missing training 🚣😂

Join the Border Canoe Club for the 2026 Chalumna Challenge on Sunday, 7 June for a day of racing, fresh air and good company on one of the Eastern Cape’s most beautiful stretches of river.

Whether you’re tackling the 18km long course, the 9km short course, or cheering on the guppies in their 500m race, there’s something for everyone.

And once the paddling is done, the real Sunday session begins 🔥
Boerie rolls for all participants after the race, braai fires on the go, honesty bar drinks, coffee and fresh muffins available. Then settle in for a relaxed afternoon on the banks of the Chalumna River. Stay a little longer, soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the vibe.

As the sun dipped, the celebrations began 🌅
A fantastic day on the water rolled into a relaxed evening of prize giving and a lucky draw, with plenty of laughs shared all around.

A big thank you to our generous sponsors FENN, Foam Factory and Lilyfontein School for contributing to a successful event. Your support makes moments like these possible.

Special thanks to the Atkinson Family, as well as Frank, our race director, and all his incredible helpers who worked behind the scenes to make the day run so smoothly 👏

What a ride it was out there 🌊
From glassy stretches to those sneaky gusts around the corners, paddlers took it all in their stride and kept pushing to the finish.

The portage section brought plenty of smiles and a bit of grit, proving once again that this race is as much about fun as it is about endurance.

And what better reward at the end than a well earned boerie roll, with ice creams keeping the younger supporters happy 🍦

The banks were buzzing and spirits were high as paddlers gathered for the Clipperty Clop River Race on 18 April 🚣‍♂️
Zero wind on land gave way to a stiff breeze waiting around each bend of the river to keep things interesting.

With both Long Course and Short Course options, there was something for every level, and even a K3 crew from Lilyfontein School joined the action 👏

From the first paddle stroke, it was clear this was going to be a memorable day on the river.
