BCM O’ahu is a club at UH Mānoa that helps students connect with an authentic community & explore Jesus!

POSTS STORIES REELS TAGGED

You might be asking, “What is a student leader?”

Here at Baptist Collegiate Ministries, our purpose is to fulfill the Great Commission in the power of the Holy Spirit by sharing the Gospel, making disciples, and sending them out to grow the Kingdom, serve the Church, and impact the world (Matthew 28:18-20). One way we accomplish this is through our Student Leader Program!!

In this program, student leaders will learn what it means to live a life of servitude in Jesus’ kingdom and will be responsible for serving in various different ways on campus and at ministry events. Additionally, students will have the opportunity to acquire leadership skills such as effective communication, learning to take initiative, and planning & organizing through weekly meetings.

In case you’ve never met our student leaders, here’s a little bit about them!!

Emanuela is a sophomore studying biochemistry! A fun fact about her is that she was born on Christmas Day 🎄

Tomas is a senior studying kinesiology!! A fun fact about him is that he loves tennis 🎾

Jeremi is a senior studying finance!! A fun fact about him is that he likes capybaras 🤩 by @bcmoahu

WHERE THE SPIRIT OF THE LORD IS THERE IS FREEDOM!! (2 Corinthians 3:17)

Last night, Jacobsen shared his testimony, or the story, of how he found his identity in Jesus. What God did in his life is what He has done in all of our lives: give us FREEDOM! Freedom from relying on ourselves to figure out life, freedom from being held captive by anxiety and insecurity, freedom from feeling like we have to be strong or have it all together to succeed in life.

JOY + FREEDOM is found as we get to know God for who He truly is and as we rest in the TRUTH of His Word! taken in Baptist Collegiate Ministries Oʻahu by @bcmoahu

Our purpose is found in the presence of Jesus 🌟

Our purpose isn’t found in a checklist of things to do, accomplish, or succeed in. It’s found in the day-by-day discovery of who we are in Christ. This discovery starts when we surrender our lives to Jesus! We don’t immediately get all the answers to all of life’s questions, but that’s the beauty of walking with Him. Joy is found as we walk with Him in His presence, close by His side. Here, we find safety, comfort, protection, guidance, & peace.

We are also able to experience the presence of Jesus in community! We desire BCM to be both a source of encouragement when you’re rejoicing on the mountain top with Jesus and a shoulder to lean on when you feel stuck in a valley 🫂

You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

Understanding the DEPTH of God’s glory changes EVERYTHING

God’s character and glory is so complex & vast, yet He wants us to know Him. We see in Hebrews 1 that Jesus is holding the entirety of the universe together at this very moment. He is also holding each of our lives together with HIS strength. We don’t need to stress & strive through life because His power & glory is far greater than anything we can try to fabricate. This is why we have HOPE!!

God has also given us the gift of community so that we don’t have to do life alone. We have each other so we can be encouraged when struggles come and be reminded of the TRUTH of His Word!

“He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high,”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭1‬:‭3‬ by @bcmoahu
