It’s Roma, not Rome! ✨🌹🇮🇹

Thrilled, grateful, honored, and completely chuffed to announce my West End debut in @andrewlloydwebber’s and @cammackltd’s original production of @phantomopera as the Primo Divo of the Opera Populaire, Ubaldo Piangi!

I’m bursting with joy and gratitude to all of my friends, family, and mentors who have supported me and my artistry to this point, and I’m ecstatic to make London my home! To return to the musical theatre stage in such operatic fashion is truly a gift and a glorious melding of so many of my loves in one spectacular production! Praise God! SDG

You can’t predict everything that will happen in an audition.

But you can prepare for the demands that sit underneath it.

We don’t just rehearse songs; we isolate key elements and train the singer to respond in the moment, including style, vocal versatility, interpretation and choice, range, mindset and consistency of sound.

Bradyn’s preparation and coaching weren’t there to control what happened next.

They were there so that, when the moment came, he didn’t need to.

The result = the role of Ubaldo Piangi in The Phantom of the Opera — West End debut.

Dearest friends,

My time at @phantomopera is coming to an end and I will be giving my last performances as Piangi on August 1st at His Majesty’s Theatre, London. It has been an absolute honor and joy to play this Italian Primo Divo for the past year, and to be, I believe, among the youngest, first American, and first person of color to do so on the West End. My heart is truly overflowing with gratitude for what this season has brought me both onstage and off. 🤍✨

I would love to see more of you at the theatre this month! I’m away July 11th and 20th-24th, but should be giving it top cs outside those dates until the 1st!

I’ll miss this cast dearly but I am also excited for what the future holds. Theatre is beautiful because it is ephemeral, as Emily Dickinson penned,

“That it will never come again
Is what makes life so sweet.”

Climb every mountain! 🏔️🎶✨

Sometimes as professional performers we live so much in the world of pretend that it’s easy to forget just how beautifully real the world we are portraying truly is. Standing in awe of the mighty Matterhorn preached to me nature’s liturgy and I couldn’t help but burst into song! How good it is to sing just because we’re happy, awestruck, or even sad — how good it is to be human! All the world’s a stage, and indeed, we may be but the players, but how blessed we are to play in this world! SDG.

Happy National Tap Dance Day! ✨

To celebrate I’m looking back at a clip from the world premiere of Mack and McGuire’s The Ghosts of Gatsby!

I had the honor of choreographing this prologue dance sequence which imagines a gun-infused party hosted by F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald, the latter of whom was an Alabama native and therefore inspired the opera’s devising at Samford University in Birmingham, AL.

Tap dance has always remained my first love on the musical stage and is, I think, joy incarnate!
