Today I am celebrating 8 years of concussion recovery! For those who don’t know, I sustained a TBI on September 18th, 2018.

This past April, I got a 5th concussion and entered a nightmare repeat experience. I found myself in a very similar place to the first injury, physically.

Sitting in the dark, isolated, and feeling like WHAT IS GOING ON GOD. I worked SO hard to recover from the first injury, and I thought the days of suffering from concussion symptoms were behind me in the year of 2026, and by the time I got to this post it would be easy to post about God’s faithfulness and goodness towards me.

Clearly, God allowed this circumstance into my life AGAIN.

During this season, I felt God impress onto my heart this verse:

“For I am about to do something new! See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.” - Isaiah 43:19

How sweet to know I am not stuck in the past. God has something NEW for me NOW.

As I’ve prayed about this, a mentor I trust said that it’s possible God used this NEW concussion to rid my heart of the bitterness and resentment towards what I “lost” from the last one (trips, years of school, friendships, performing opportunities, etc).

Re-emerging into society over the last month, I am overwhelmed with gratitude for the healing I’ve experienced. It doesn’t matter how long it’s taken because I am thankful for the present healing. I’ve prayed over the years for healing of body, mind, and spirit.

I know I will experience full physical healing on the other side of heaven. The new concussion has surprisingly healed some broken parts of my mind and spirit that I didn’t know were broken.

So thankful for all of the people who have encouraged, mentored, and supported me over the past 8 years. I have tagged some of you even if we haven’t talked in a while because I am still so thankful. 💜

There are many things I’m looking forward to, and more people to meet. Looking forward to a good year 9!
