Surely by now everyone knows of Beabea’s – iconic bakery, arguably the best pies in the city, arguably best hot cross buns in the city. If you don’t, do yourself a favour – head to Westmere and meet our friends Ben and Sarah, and the whole Beabea’s team.

It’s hard not to order one of everything, especially when they’re all laid out for you to gawk out while you wait for your turn. They do French classics to perfection (the person writing this is French and has spent the last 10 years looking for the real deal, so trust me, it’s perfect.), so you might want to start there.

But maybe a good gateway into becoming a Beabea’s regular and driving yourself to Westmere every Sunday morning is trying one of Ben’s experimentations with Kiwi classics. Love marmite & cheese? They’ve made it into a buttery scroll. Have a soft spot for Kiwi onion dip? It’s now in a braided delicious pastry thing. Shamelessly would scoff your face with Louise slices at Nana’s? Try the ✨croissant✨ version. And now you can truly indulge in unadulterated nostalgia with their latest creation – the fairy bread croissant toast.
