Preservation. Elevation. Imagination.

Combe Martin.

A home of historical significance that is being painstakingly restored by the owners. The aim is to preserve and restore, whilst giving this grand old Dame a new lease on life, ultimately crafting a home that is reflective of the owners and their children, who are pouring their heart and soul into continuing the legacy of Combe Martin.

We are so proud to be an integral part of the team that is bestowed with the honour of restoring of such a significant landmark that most definitely holds a special place in the hearts of so many here on the Mornington Peninsula.

I am still on such a high from this day.

Seeing these beautiful established trees find their place around the pool has completely transformed the feeling of Combe Martin. The scale, the softness, the way they frame the architecture. Suddenly, the garden we have been imagining for so long is becoming a reality.

A few more moments from a very muddy, very cold, but incredibly special day.

COMBE MARTIN | Championing craftsmanship

Each custom stone mosaic laid by @ultraedge_tiling reflects the quiet discipline of true craftsmanship, where patience, precision, and meticulous attention to detail remind us that enduring quality takes time.

COMBE MARTIN | Colour in motion.

Colour plays such an important role in interior design. It has the power to influence the entire feeling and energy of a space.

At Combe Martin, we have inherited cumbersome timber panelling, that felt weighty and overpowering. With the constraints imposed by its heritage listing, which sees Combe Martin entirely protected internally and externally, colour on previously painted surfaces has been one of the most significant ways in which we have been able to shift the formally oppressive mood of the home.

Each hue has been painstakingly specified over the many years of this design program, to shape the energy of its room, always guided by the original bones of the home. The original stained glass window has been the reference point which has guided every colour decision.

Bold, rich and layered, the palette transitions through the home with intention, creating spaces that feel individual yet entirely connected, by the invisible thread of a cerebral link.

COMBE MARTIN | The restoration continues.

Whilst at first, frustratingly slow and cumbersome, the length of time it has taken for the restoration program of this Heritage Listed home to progress has in fact, been the greatest gift.

As each week passes, it feels like the home is gently guiding us. Slowly revealing her intricate details, one at a time. And whilst our initial plans for the home were grander in scale, more flamboyant and progressive in design direction, I am finally feeling more resolved than ever, by leaning into the original details of this home, to inform every design decision.

The result? An interior, shaped by research and instinct that simply belongs.

Combe Martin commands patience and restraint. It demands to be listened to, understood, and treated with respect. Our role is not to impose, but to respond. Carefully balancing what must be preserved whilst enabling the home to evolve and be lived in once more.

COMBE MARTIN | Steel windows are in!

The much anticipated delivery and installation of the steel windows happened this week at Combe Martin. Months of planning, designing and manufacturing these beauties has most definitely been worth the effort and indeed the wait. @metrosteelwindows delivered on promise. @beambuildinggroup handled the installation with precision. What a brilliant team we have restoring and elevating this home of ours. So grateful.
