We are saddened to share that longtime friend of Bearnstow Jo Tibby passed away last week. We were all caught by surprise. She was just at Bearnstow on Friday, July 31, taking in the showing from Claire Porter and Janis Brenner’s workshop. She stayed for dinner after sharing her thoughts, laughs, and her own creative ideas. She was her full, curious, joyful, colorfully costumed, caring self until the very end.

If you have any photos or memories of Jo you would like to share, please send them to admin@bearnstow.org and we will see that they are added to our growing collection. There will be a memorial service at 1 pm today at Bearnstow. Big hugs to our community as we mourn the loss of such a colorful, joyful, caring, and creative light. by @bearnstow

* UPDATED TIME FOR @ndubay's CLOSE-READING WORKSHOP IS 5:30-7pm ON THURSDAY 8/6*

We are thrilled to be in-residence at @bearnstow the first week of August inviting you into our practice in a new way with three evenings of open discussion hours! 4 - 5:30pm, Tuesday 8/4 - Thursday 8/6 at Bearnstow. Free and open to all. Each session will focus on a different aspect of our process. Come to all or just what interests you most. And if you can only make it to one, be sure it's @ndubay's Close-Reading Workshop on Thursday!

Tuesday, August 4th: Thinking about collaborative practice. What does it mean to ground into a slow practice? What will we discover in working together in this way?

Wednesday, August 5th: Thinking about mediums. How can the structure of a medium foster meaningful relationships between our art and our theme poem?

Thursday, August 6th: Thinking about the poem. A Close-Reading Workshop facilitated by @ndubay of our next theme poem, Danez Smith’s “in lieu of a poem, i’d like to say”. This process will focus our minds, individually and collectively, and slowly open up the poem.

Another dance filled week at Bearnstow! Last week we held Bebe Miller and Angie Hauser’s Solo/Duo Dancing workshop, which is focused on exploring how our dancing is amplified in both solo and duet work, developing choreographic and technical specificity through a range of compositional strategies. by @bearnstow
