HOME LIBRARY SERIES 009 - Bea Secchia

For the ninth edition of the home library series, I visited @beasecchia home in Amsterdam, where she has been living for the past six years. Bea is an Italian photographer, multidisciplinary and event curator based in the city. Her home is filled with books—and within some of them, her own writing quietly lives.

Welcome to Bea’s Library!

1. Agua Viva - Clarice Lispector, 1973. (A hypnotic monologue on time, language, love, life and art)

2. (Agua Viva) + Bea’s sticky note.

3. Remedios Varo: Science Fictions - Art Institute of Chicago, Caitlin Haskel and Tere Arcq, 2023. (This page holds the painting - Creación de las aves, by Remedios from 1957. A strange being, halfway between owl and human, makes use of science and magic to create different birds)

4. Letter to Brian Eno by Bea

5. Annotated page from - Where the Heart Beats: John Cage, Zen Buddhism, and the Inner Life of Artists. ( Biography of John Cage and his awakening through Zen Buddhism)

6. The Analogue Sea Review - An offline journal - Number Three ( Analog Sea is an offline publisher of printed books.)

7. The Milk of Dreams - Leonora Carrington. (In the 1950s, after permanently settling in Mexico, Leonora Carrington dreamt up a series of bizarre children’s stories that she initially painted on the bedroom walls of her sons Gabriel and Pablo, later gathering them into a book.)

8. Bea’s typewritten thoughts - 2023

9. @prologuemagazine Prologue Magazine Issue 4: Hours Through a Still Frame 2022 - by Bea

10. Zine - Brazil - 2023 - Rhythm as a Time-Capsule for Memory - Interviews + pictures by Bea by @beasecchia

(on this day i wrote

i am in love with time when it is not here
i am in love with time when its constructed meaning dissappears, when i can measure it through melodies and the wind, when time becomes part of you and you can see you are part of time) by @beasecchia

the surreal yet comfortable nature of the moment, the immense opening of worlds and closing of syllables, the bridging of physical space caused by my dreams compressed into a dimension translatable into the tangible.

:

I wrote this in november in new york, and typed it on a typewriter in brazil in february

It is part of a larger work titled

surrealist poetry: an exploration of symbols within ourselves, our bodies, our material belongings, our minds, our loves by @beasecchia
